16 TST members and staff recently had the opportunity to pre-order and buy some custom-made TST belts from Mission.

http://missionbelt.com

Mission Belt donates $1 from each belt sold to micro loan programs to help with poverty and starvation. You can read more about that here and here .

But whether you're globally conscious or not, the belts are great. Full leather and ratcheting so there are no holes to wear out AND they offer 1/4 inch adjustments or so. Operation is smooth as well. Eat a big lunch? Let out a few clicks. Feeling slimmer? Click a few more.

Over the next few weeks you'll see Member Reviews of the belt on the product page (below three pictures in this post) as well as some more photos and experiences shared here in this thread. If there's enough interest, we'll open up a second round of purchases and order some more.

Ha, I'm wearing one now. I got mine about a month ago, though I dont have a "the sand trap" one, mine is just brushed steel buckle with a black belt. Really cool takes a little bit to get used to the release though but I love mine.

I love my Mission Belt. My wife bought me one after she saw them on Shark Tank. I've had it for a while and have had no issue. I like the TST buckle. Let me know when I can order one.

Good product.

Even better cause.

Guess what just arrived!

First impression is a VERY well made, solid product.  30 seconds to cut to fit.  Looks good and feels good.  More once I use it for a bit.....

Thanks guys!

I got mine today too, looks great.  I love the Sand Trap buckle but the nicest feature is you don't have to worry about the belt getting those worn belt hole marks.  With this belt no one can tell based on looking at your belt if you've gained or lost a few pounds.

Got black & brown. Looks great.

  • Quick to adjust compared to belts with eyelets.
  • Most belts with eyelets, eyelets are about 1cm apart. The ratchets w/these belts are probably 1/3 of a cm apart, much easier to get a not too tight, not too loose fit.
  • Like the matte-ish look of the buckle, TST insignia looks great.
  • Very easy to shorten, remove from buckle, snip, re-clasp. No problemo.

Most belts with holes are closer to an inch apart. I think these are 1/4 or 1/5 of an inch.

Looking forward to everyone's reviews!

My review is up. Some may say I half-assed it, but I prefer to think of it as being short, sweet, and to the point. Good belt for sure.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
