Not much love for the LPGA here, or maybe I don't see the thread?

First major done for the ladies, and it all came down to an approach, just like the Shell Houston, doesn't it always?

Bad deal for Lewis being in that sand-filled divot, I think it's time to change the rule and allow free relief, it's ground under repair, silly.

The look in her eyes after that feeble chip was pure rage, Stacy probably trashed her hotel room, I don't know how these pros keep their cool after something like that to interview, I'd be fuming at the camera.

Great show by Lincicome at the Dinah Shore, first win of any kind on six years? wow.

I did watch some of the tournament.  Great playoff.  Tough break for Lewis.  Lincicome did play great down the finish.

In all honesty, I didn't know this was a major until last night. The branded naming doesn't convey that. Call it the ANA Masters or something. I'll try to remember next year.

I watched most of the last 3 days.  It was a great tournament, tough break for Stacy.  I had a sense looking at her body language after she missed the putt right on the edge that she was going to lose.

I watched the playoff. Felt bad for Lewis, because she ultimately had 3 makeable putts to win it (2 putts that were very similar, too) and couldn't hole one of them.

Ending up in the sand filled divot sucks and is awful luck, but that's golf. I'm sure Lewis wasn't happy about it, but missing those 3 putts were really what cost her.

Every year I intend to go, and every year something comes up to keep me from doing so. As soon as the 2016 LPGA schedule is out, I think I'll block off the extended weekend (I'll aim to go Friday also).

LPGA is pretty fun (and exciting if you have players follow) and this tournament was not an exception.  I was very happy to see Lincicom win.   Her easy going demeanor vs Lewis' almost angry game face was pretty interesting to watch.   If it wasn't Lincicom who is playing against Lewis, I'd root for Lewis b/c of her fiery approach to the game and all she endured to get there.

I did question Lincicom's playoff strategy of laying up on the par 5 hole.   She eagled it to get to the playoff and had definite "distance" advantage over Lewis who can't reach the hole in two.  Had she lost, there would be others  whispering about her lay up strategy.   But nothing like a winning that makes any strategy a good one.

After the Korean born player dominance in LPGA this year, this is the 2nd win in a row for Americans albeit by veteran players.   Where are the young American players?   In stark contrast, the Korean winners were in their teen or early twenties.

I think the title sponsor needs to change their logo.  I mean it would make Jay Leno's list of bad signs. :-O

I watched a good portion of it but missed the playoff. Can't say I'm a Stacy Lewis fan & Brittany seems pretty cool (via what I see on Twitter), so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out who won.

I think Bam Bam had to lay up mainly due to being in the rough. I dont think it was possible to get a decent 2nd shot at the green with the lie she had

The pure rage in her eyes is pretty normal.

I always get the feeling that Lewis is a sore loser and always seems to be angry. She is by far my least favorite player on the tour.

Lewis is a tough competitor who puts a lot of pressure on herself to win.  I get the sense that she feels under appreciated and dis-respected so she tries to work harder to win but I think there's enough pressure in just winning a tournament without all the extra baggage Lewis brings with her on Sunday.   Lincicom wanted to win yesterday but she looked more relaxed and I think that worked to her benefit.

Lewis is a competitor and is not afraid to shows her emotion.   Many PGA tour players have similar demeanor (or worse) but I understand that's may not be what people expect to see from an LPGA player.  Anyway, I hope she wins one after finishing 2nd three times in this LPGA season already.

BTW, it was SY Kim's tournament to win with early lead she had.  I think she broke down mentally down the stretch.  She was very erratic with her drives, putting down the stretch (no pars on back 9).

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
