Good question and one that many are talking about.

What's your answer, @Scotsclaff ? You should vote in the poll.

I voted Tiger. He's improved every day and has looke sharper, I think, than Rory.

They are both somewhat out of reach from Spieth, but Tiger has a lot more to gain with a top 10 or 5 finish.  Not that Rory will go into a coma, but to finish 4th or 5th would be a good showing with a good payday, but for Tiger it would be an enormous start to a comeback.  I have to admit that Tiger has surprised me.

I voted Woods even though I'm massive Rory fanboy. I just think Tiger is hungrier. Rory will play hard but I don't think second place is as important to him as it is to Tiger in the present circumstances. Tiger NEEDS this for a whole pile of reasons whereas Rory has lots of road ahead of him. Edit* @NJpatbee posted at the same time as me. If I had seen his post I may have just said "ditto".

I vote Rory, but I'd prefer tiger on this occasion, just so he can get back on track!

I went with Woody. He seems to have the better game right now.

Rory and Tiger trying to outgun each other tomorrow?

Who will shoot lowest??

The situation reminds me of a few years ago when Tiger and Phil were paired together in the final round of the US Open (the 2nd Bethpage Open?) when they were out of it and they just lit it up.

Neither will win, but wouldn't it be cool to see Tiger and Rory throw 65s at each other?

As to the poll, it's a coin flip.  So I vote Heads.  No wait Tails.  Yeah tails.  No wait, Heads . . . .

But then again, what the hell do I know?

I will be a great matchup, but I think they are both more focused on Jordan and trying to get closer, than they are on each other.

I'll vote Woods. Rory just seems a little bit shakier this week, despite their equal scores.

I think Rory will shoot lower because of his temprament(spelling),you will see Tiger losing it again at least a couple of times during the final round.

Speith by two.

I have money on Phil though.

I voted Rory. I predict he's gonna shoot 66 and Tiger shoots one over. Just a premonition.

Man, am I good. It's like I can see the future! ;-)

I just saw this poll right now, but I would have voted for Rory by a couple of strokes, why? Tiger even though he shot a low score yesterday, seemed erratic and I felt both would be taking slightly higher risk reward shots putting a premium on the drive- something  I felt tiger was not demonstrating very well on days 1-3.

Hind site is 20 20 but tiger went 1 fairway for the first 13 holes a lousy way to score.

I think Rory played better because he found out he was going to get to sing with One Direction in concert. :-D

Tiger worked on this short game, but the long game still needs tweaking. IF he continues working and competing more frequently, then we can expect great duels.

Of course, when they asked him yesterday  when he will play next, he said  not for a while.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
