13th green actually looks to be in good shape.

Terrible putting efforts from the final pair on 12. That's a stroke lost to the field for both of them.

The green on 12 was horrid. The ball is bouncing all over the place. Well, we know the greens are horrid. Blame the USGA.

I just yelled this at my house. They're so, sooooo bad. [quote name="DrvFrShow" url="/t/81357/2015-u-s-open-at-chambers-bay-discussion-thread/1470#post_1158510"]The green on 12 was horrid. It's called Poa Annua grass. It occurs on a lot of golf courses and at the US Opens in the past. They tend to get bumpy in the afternoons. This isn't something new. They just like talking points and making a big deal out of it.

Read any quote about Tiger's putt on 18 during the 2008 Open. Every single player will mention how bumpy those greens are, but seldom few were complaining about it.

I know what kind of grass it is, and I also know that it gets bumpy. Doesn't mean it doesn't suck.

Oosty holed out for birdie on 14: that's three in a row for him. He's still in it with a chance.

    • It's funny because the USGA through the FSGA definitely had a formula for what they wanted to see. They were very careful to set up a very fair test. They didn't tip it out, and they actually moved a few holes up from the black tees because they didn't like how a tree was blocking out one side of the fairway or that every par 3 was over 195. There was a mixture of easier and harder pin locations and the greens were cut to their specs.  In the end, I think they accomplished their goal of identifying the best golfers that particular day. Finally, I would highly recommend attendance at one of these events. It was very spectator friendly where you could get really close to some really good guys and see them work their way around the course. There are no ropes, its quiet, and there are no hordes of crowds to navigate. I think Charlie Woods, who had a security detail, had between 15-30 people hanging around but others like Kutchar and LeMieux, really flew under the radar.
    • I mean, everything is so complicated now with the US being in bed with the House of Saud for so long   I did enjoy his unbridled enthusiasm and the fact that he graciously chose not to criticize Rory for dipping out
    • Just curious, why don't you usually hit driver there? Downwind would typically help keep it a bit straighter, and it seems like laying back some would bring that right fairway bunker into play, right? Looks like the only penalty stroke hazard would potentially be way left, right?
    • We liking BDC yet? Nope. I actually tried but who was I kidding? Can't get over the fact that he works for MBS. Entertaining, autograph signer/influencer extraordinaire, whatever.. Can't forget that the end of the day he chose the wrong side of history.
    • No, I get that. If I can get my arms to go up more, it way less likely for them to carry on around me. Less likely chance for my right arm to do stupid stuff.  In general, I need to be able to stop the swing short of A4.
