So with Tiger playing so badly and not playing a lot of tournaments is it possible that even Tiger Wood's will lose his PGA Tour Card???

Obviously he wouldn't be the first guy who is a multi time PGA winner, but he would be the biggest name to lose his tour card....

Or do you think the PGA Officials will just grant him every exemption to any tournament he wants for life??????

It is what it is

Tiger Woods already has a lifetime exemption on the PGA Tour as does anyone who has won at least 20 events.

No to the former. Yes to the latter.
Tiger Woods already has a lifetime exemption on the PGA Tour as does anyone who has won at least 20 events.
Because of this ^^^^^^

He'll still make $$$ regardless. He's made his last 3 cuts at least. I think the odds of catching Jack are slim to none. The biggest shame would be if he didn't catch Sam.

so he has what 4 lifetime exemptions ?

Nope, just 3. ;-)

Tiger has made $187,276 to date which puts him in 173rd place on the money lists, if he wasn't Tiger Woods I'm pretty sure he'd be at risk of getting cut from the Tour.

If he wasn't Tiger Woods, he'd be playing in a lot more tournaments.

Luckily he's lifetime exempt.

Good thing for him he is Tiger Woods, and he will likely play any event he wants . . .  except WGC and FedEx playoff events.

If you remember last year there was a buzz about whether he would be picked to the Ryder Cup, and he ended that with his withdrawal from consideration.  There is a resounding silence this year about his being picked to play on the Presidents Cup team (he is currently 140th on the list); although that would certainly change with a top 10 finish or two.

It's not like he gets to play them because people decide to let him play. He earned the right to play in them. He's a lifetime member of the PGA Tour.

I guess the 79 wins and 14 majors is not enough for the "What have you done for me lately crowd."! :-P

Luckily he's lifetime exempt.

I was responding to @ChrisP regarding the amount of money he's made this year which isn't much compared to others on the Tour.  I know he's exempt from being cut, just pointing out he's not making a lot of money.

I agree completely, the more events he plays the better it is for attendance and viewership, which in turn is good for the tour.

I do need to amend my list of events he needs to qualify for to include things like the US Open starting in 2019, as he is exempt this year by being a prior US Open champion in the last 10 years (expiring in 2019) and winning the Players Championship within the prior 3 years (expiring this year) - IMO he deserves a special exemption for as long as he is active on the tour, but we will have to wait and see.

I really can't imagine Tiger having to through qualifying

If he continues at this rate & finishes around there at the end of the year, WILL HE LOSE HIS CARD ??      I'd really like to know how this works ... thx.

No chance. He has too many career wins and exemptions to lose his card... ever...

    • I have an update… I don't have much of a response, because the fact that they would ADD the numbers for the lead and trail shoulder together… I mean, wow. I was giving them too much credit. Nobody would think to assume they were doing THAT. That's beyond comical. One of the biomechanists I talked to put it this way: "So if I squatted down and went from 180 to 90 deg knee angle, then I would say 180 deg range of motion because I have two knees?" I'd type more (maybe), but honestly, I'm laughing a bit too hard. 🤣 Update: Mini Manavian blocked me on Instagram, so I cannot see his post showing Bryson with about 50° of range of motion (with a driver) from P4 to P7, and 75° only if you go out to the mid-follow-through. What a terrible loss for me. 😉
    • Thanks, interesting to read. The swing is definitely very timing dependent. I hit it consistently I guess but consistently bad.
    • I've shot 91-74 on the same day before. Couple of years ago played a two round tournament on Bethpage Black. I shot 72 in the first round and 90 in the second. First round I played very well. Second round I played okay, but had about 5 shots that hit the lips of bunkers and bounced down into them. A couple of those wound up in footprints - I was unamused - and I failed to get them out. Anyway - lots of bunkers and my bunker play isn't great and then add a couple of footprints and me getting pretty tired and it added up to a lot.  Only you can really tell though what's causing the variance. It might be that your swing is very timing dependent and when it's timed well you play well and when it's not then it goes all over the place. In that case, some lessons and working on your swing could be the key. If it's more that you tend to feel like you hit it fairly consistently, but you have days where the shots come off and days where they don't, then that's more likely a course management issue. If that's what you need to work on, then you could read Lowest Score Wins and build a plan of attack based on that.  Rest assured though that a pretty big range from high to low is fairly common. Even PGA Tour players often have 18-20 shot spreads from best to worst rounds in a season. It's a common affliction among golfers.
