Haney was back pedaling today after his accusations yesterday that Tiger hadn't practiced lately and would struggle this week at Quicken Loans.  His explanation today for Tiger doing well is that only 5 of the Top 50 world best are playing this week.  If Hank's trying to smooth things over with Tiger he's got an interesting way of going about it.

Tiger really has to thank his short game so far.  First Fairway now on the 8th!

He hit his approach 50 yards past the green? :-O

Looks like Tiger is back to normal again.

Who is to say what is normal any more.-The guy could retire after the PGA or win it (or at least win tournaments in 2016). We do not know.

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.

Until he stops scooping his driver and start attacking the ball with power the way he used to, normal will be what we are seeing today. I've seen this "scoop it" approach with his woods all year and it's leading to these god awful drives. We don't see them as often on the driving range for some reason.

Well no yips what so ever for Tiger. Scrambling to the max. More big misses..... And back to back birdies. He's got it in him to win again.

got tired of being in the trees?

It is just sad when T. merrit shoots 10 under and Tiger is hanging around +2 at the moment.. To follow up the great round yesterday with this today must be frustrating as heck.. It's not like the conditions or the set up weren't conducive for them to go low.. Where does he go from here??

He's swung well the last 4 or 5 holes. He was swinging down hard on the ball more like we were used to seeing and not "scooping it" like he was the front 9.

Yeah, pretty much. But a joke round on a day everyone else is taking advantage of the conditions.

I'm not surprised by Tiger's play. He seems to take a step forward then two steps back. Ugh

    • It’s possible the graphite shaft has a small internal crack or a delamination. Tapping it and hearing a vibrating sound is usually a sign the shaft isn’t behaving as it should. Since the store wasn’t helpful, consider taking it to a club fitter or a pro shop that can check the shaft flex and integrity. If it’s defective, you might be able to get a replacement from the manufacturer.
    • It’s interesting how much a 3D system changes your understanding. Observing top players in full detail and realizing the trail knee shouldn’t fully extend is a great example of why being open to new info is so important. I like your approach: not trying to be “right,” but trying to teach correctly based on actual evidence. Makes sense why golfers would benefit from this perspective.
    • I would say both are equally not the best for golf. Is it better than nothing, sure.  Golf is an athletic motion. Professional golfers are doing a comprehensive workout routine focusing on strength, power, flexibility, stability. They might include some yoga into the routine. I would put both of them in the recovery bin, not golf enhancement bin.  If you want to increase swing speed, core strength, longevity in golf and life, then lift heavy weights.
