He's a great offensive D-Man but doesn't play D.  44th ranked plus/minus among defensemen in the league does not reflect well on an offensive-minded D-man.

That's spoken like a guy who doesn't watch the man play hockey. :-)

He's 41st out of 180-some in +/- (and was a +9). He's top 60 or so in SH TOI - they don't trust many poor defensive defenders on the PK. And he gets a good amount of PK time despite also getting PP time, and being matched up against the top lines of the opponents. You can't just look at one little stat. Especially if it's +/-.

Is he a defensive stud? No. But you're off your rocker to say something as dumb as "he doesn't play D."

In my mind, plus/minus is the most important stat for a defenseman.  The offense is a bonus but they need to protect the net.

Klingberg does both which is why he should get the nod over Letang for a Norris nomination.  Neither will win it and Letang will probably be nominated because it's largely a popularity contest but I'm hoping Klingberg gets a little recognition for his terrific season, helping lead the Stars to the Western Conference 1 seed.

What is this "playoffs" thing you speak of?

I think it's like when there's players leaving the ice on a line change.  First they were playing, then they were going off.

I'm wondering if there are any Flyers fans who are proud of the fan behavior at the game last night.  How many times do the fans get penalized?

Observations from game 3 of LAK/SJS, as a Sharks fan:

(a)     Thornton, Pavelski, Burns, Hertl, and Donskoi have been beasts.

(b)      Wingels has been horrific.  9 straight games now without a point.

(c)      Spalin has been worse.

(d)      Is Marleau on the team?

(e)      Methinks Zubrus must be hurt, because I’d have him playing for Spalin or Nieto.

(f)       PP lost this game, not one mishap at the end.  0 for 5 is not cutting it.

(g)      How Drew Doughty doesn’t get called for the most blatant trip I think I’ve seen all season on Pavelski during one of the third period PPs is beyond me.

(h)      The Missing Link (Lucic) continues to be an asset for the Sharks, not his own team, even if he had a nice assist to Kopitar.  Amazing Lucic can skate when you consider he's the first person in his family to walk upright.

(i)          Dustin Brown is the dirtiest slimiest m____er f____er ever.

Plus Minus is a joke stat for any player....  It's entirely useless and has no bearing on the quality of the player...

Last night was the first time I had seen Donskoi play.  Wow, he is special.  Gonna be a star in the league.

L.A. has targeted and pummeled the kid and he just has gotten better as each game goes on.  Tough kid.  Been fun to watch this season.

Philly fan. You mean the battery-chuckers. Hell, their moms are proud. After all they've been a lot worse.

Hoping my Sharks can do the same in L.A. tonight -- while I have tix to game 6 in S.J., I'd rather finish them off now!!

Here's hoping for another series to close out tonight, Caps over Flyers.

    • Day 120 - Played 18; much better than yesterday. Miss right now is off the heel of the club, so I need to sort that out.
    • Today we played Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH. Course was in great shape but my game didn't show up. I will say I pitched and chipped fairly well but almost everything else was very hit or miss. Cost myself a lot hitting an in play drive with pulling my approach shots maybe 85% of the time. Finally figured out I had been swaying most of the round. Only took me until 13 to figure it out. Used what felt like a much more centered turn and the ballstriking improved. 18 tomorrow using a 2 man scramble format. Just looking to contribute. Been a blast though.
    • Day 22: Hit balls with 7-iron using mevo+ to track dispersion. Was out for a long time after work; 86 balls but the first 50+ were 50% swings focusing on top of backswing feel and then just hitting the ball as a psychic reward. Finished with 20 balls close to full speed. Pretty happy with dispersion and also no horrendous misses. I’m chunking my priority piece out into two separate feels, first and more important is the position/balance at top of backswing which is what I was working on. Once I have that engrained I’ll move to transition part.
    • FWIW I never really had issues with the previous generation of Snells. But… I'm not sure I played them a ton, either.
    • I know Dean Snell designed the original Pro V along with a couple of other brands tour balls.  How exactly does the Snell ball have problems.  Did he change something in the design or is a manufacturing error since he cannot afford the unlimited R&D budgets of the big manufacturers to iron out flaws
