What'd You Shoot Today?

Played first round of the year about a week ago. Shot a 51. Was pleased with my iron strikes, but my chipping and putting have plenty of room for improvement. That is what I actually plan on dedicating most of this year to is chipping and putting.

Shot a 91 today
4 pars, 9 bogeys, 5 doubles
6636 yards/70.9 rating/117 slope
6 times - hit the ball about 30 yards, chunked it or just topped the ball
Short game was non-existant - several 3 putts, chipping was aweful
Sunny, 64 degrees, 2 club wind out of the north
Best drive - 450 yard par 4, wind helping, piped it dead center, only 110 yards left
Best iron - 175 yards in, wind helping, 8 iron to 10 feet, just missed birdie putt
Best putt - 10 footer for par

+6. Started double, bogey, double, but kept the wheels from coming off for the rest of the round. That's what not warming up will do for you kiddo-os!

I haven't played since last summer and apparently only playing 3 or 4 times a season doesn't lead to success. I shot a 102 the last time I played, can't wait to take some lessons and fix my swing before I allow all of my bad habits to really set in.

About a week ago, shot a 96 for my first round of the year. I reworked my swing over the winter so this was my first time on the course with it. I was really happy with how I swung my hybrids and irons but my driver was terrible. I'm now tracking stats for my rounds and I only hit 38% fairways. Also, could not get my wedges to stick the ball on the green for anything so 16% GIRs . A lot of my approach shots came in hot. I've had several range sessions since and finally feel like my driver is working so I can't wait to get out again.

I stopped playing a few years ago but started again last fall. Needless to say I was really rusty and shot in the high 90's. My course opened last week with temporary greens and tees so there was no score to speak of, but I felt I was hitting well after doing my drills all winter. Now that the rains have stopped I hope to get out this weekend and post a real score.

Last Saturday I played the front 9 and shot a 45 without cheating. This is starting my 3rd year of golf so score is pretty good for me. Wind was blowing but we had plenty of sunshine here in Montana. Temp was in the low 50's. My best score for 9 this year!!

Played a quick 9 before practice today. Shot a 44(+9).

A 44 wasn't too bad for as bad as I felt like I played. Both Par 5's were disasters as I found myself in trees after poor drives.

Career Bests:

9 Holes--37 @ The Fairways at Arrowhead-Front(+2)

18 Holes--80 @ Carroll Meadows Golf Course(+9)

Home Course:

1) The Fairways at Arrowhead

2) Mayfair Country Club

Played 9 with some buddies today. Third time out for the season and shot a 43. Only one birdie, and numerous 1 putts which i was happy about. Multiple birdie chances because I was able to hit greens but missed opportunities on putts. Oh well.
