92.  I followed every good shot with a miserable one.  My putting was fine - irons terrible.

I had my best round ever, I shot 75 off the stick which was 9 over par on a short course with cored greens.

I had never been in single figures over par and was 10over with the last hole to play.

It was a 348m slight dogleg to the left a little bit uphill which is the second hardest hole on the course.. I hit my hybrid off the tee and smacked it dead straight to 146m (range finder distance). This left me with an 8 iron to go. there was a slight breeze from the left of the green which  and I aimed at the left edge of the green and hit it sweet. It faded with the wind and looked like it was going to be close to the pin.

Due to the slight uphill slope as I walked towards the green I could not see the ball and assumed it had rolled off the back.

As I got close I was pretty happy! I was about 2 feet from the pin and sunk a simple birdie putt to get to 9 over.

This is probably my best played hole ever, I would not change a thing.

I am now off 15 so I dropped a stroke today.

For me, this is a no-brainer!  If I am directly behind the offending group with open holes ahead........I skip right on past!  If they won't let my group through, we go AROUND!

Sweet Brown said it best.... "Ain't nobody got time for THAT!"

Just in case you don't remember SWEET BROWN...LOL

6610 yds.  71.1/121 home course.

77 with TWO DOUBLES, a bogey, and 15 pars.  Really just one bad swing and one somewhat unlucky unplayable lie, barely off the fairway, that led to the doubles.

Worth noting for the "ball-striking/GIR vs short game" discussions.......  I Hit 11 greens.  Didn't really putt horribly, but certainly not well .  Had 5 birdie putts under 10 feet and couldn't get any of them into the hole.

Played yesterday and shot 87 (45-42). Couldn't putt. 6 GIR's and only three pars and a birdie. Couldn't get up and down from close off the green 0-3. Won large groups low net 71 and took cash. Unfortunately came out on short end of drinks and pupus (appetizers)

On Wednesday, I played at Palmetto Golf Course, CR 70.3/123 slope.  I shot a 107 not bad, continuously improving which is what matters. This course isn't where it should be, the fairways are not the best, the greens on the other hand are really good, not fast and not slow, just right! I like the course, it's near home and has treated me very good.  I am still having issues with my long game while my short game is becoming very good.  Most of my chips are near the hole and I am 1 and 2 putting regardless of distance to the hole.

Shot a 40 on the front, it was a par 36, 5 par's 4 bogeys. Only able to play 6 holes on the back over booked course again and got dark, but a this was a par 23 I shot a 26.

Bad part is my son will be trying out for school at this course so we will be playing it again for the next couple week.

Very odd round on Saturday. I can't remember the last round I played when I did not make a single par.

Hard to break 90 with no pars, but I shot 44-44-88. 2 doubles, 2 birdies, 14 bogeys.

Played River Forest senior tees - temperature started at 40° and had a high of 50° with windy conditions.

39-41 - 80  (9 pars and 9 bogies with 30 putts)

Had to use the leaf rule 3 times. Even though I lost 3 balls, I found two, so I was a net loss of one.

Had a 95 Saturday and same course 81 today. Actually played 27 jogging and walking. Did them all in 4 hrs. Weather was awesome and had to get in as now looking freeze, wind and freezing drizzle.

Third round over 90 (91 today) in a row.  ....Hubris has come for me -- I was certain I'd be 80s at worst after I played a round in the 70s a few weeks ago.

I think I'm going to have to have some lessons on just putting, I had 3 birdies on the round but missed at least 5 other very makeable birdie putts as well, my ball striking is really coming on and I'm just feeling more confident now than ever before.\ just knocking down flags these days. There just seems to be something missing in the way I'm seeing putts and or routine, but I just know I can putt better than I am right now I know I have good touch it's just not finding itself in my stroke.

Played in a charity scramble at the local goat pasture.  Veteran's Day......Toys for Tots.  No way to turn it down.

The usual mess.......2 decent players, one 18ish hcp, and one guy that hadn't touched a club all year and was carrying 20 year-old Wilson Staff Blades......including the butter knife.  Shot 63 and didn't crack the top 5.  55 won, on overseeded greens that hadn't been cut yet.  Right.....

God, I hate those things.......  Nice day to be out on the course rather than at work though.

I went back to Palmetto golf course yesterday, shot a 103, 2 stroke improvement on the same course.  I am really happy about that. My drives were descent but on the last few holes I just started slicing it and couldn't figure out why.  I finally got a par on a par 3 and had 2 GIR which I am super excited about.

(Actually on Monday . . . )

Shot my best ever 18 hole round - 86. 44 on the front 42 on the back. Lots of pars, no birdies dropped, too many doubles and a triple (with an OB). Course was Pecan Hollow Golf Course in Plano, TX ("Player's" tees at 68.9/118). I haven't really played since the end of August (and not well then), so I was very pleased.

    • Day 14, April 22.  This morning, before going to work, I took the time to hit two dozen balls (indoors, off the mat, into the net), all with a 6-iron.  As before, this was focused on the pelvis separation and the length of the backswing -- yesterday's video view was encouraging that I'm making progress.
    • Hey folks, Here's be a better video that outlines some of my challenges.  Any suggestiosn welcome.
    • I enjoyed the distance wedges episode. It's something that I've not really taken the time to figure out for sure, but I went to a local trackman place over the winter and tested my four wedges (PW, AW, 54, 58) and got four yardages with each one. I am using Dan Grieve's method - you have a 1, 2, 3, and "full". The number references the number of clubhead widths between your heels.  I never really got to grips with the clock method - I'd find my 9:00 one day would go 40 yards and the next day 60 yards purely based on how fast I happened to swing it, but I couldn't turn that off and I was basically at sea with the speed method (Wesley Bryan does this - he takes almost a full swing for a 15 yard chip). The Grieve method I set my stance width and that really limits how much my swing moves back and forth and the speed seems to be naturally more consistent.  Anyway, I wound up with four yardages for each club - PW 48, 80, 112, 127; AW 41, 73, 101, 112; 54 36, 57, 91, 98; 58 28, 47, 81, 86 So, in order, I have 28, 36, 41, 47, 48, 57, 73, 80, 81, 86, 91, 98, 101, 112, 112, 127 which gives me a pretty good set of numbers. I do have a big gap from 57 to 73, but I can do a 2.5 58, which is giving me about 64. Then as they noted you can give it a bit more, or grip down on a club too to adjust a little bit. It's really useful and very freeing to just know what to do. When you have a 54 yard pitch, rather than pulling my 58 and thinking how hard is 54, I can just take my 54, do a "2" swing and just grip down a little and I'm in decent shape.  Incidentally, Erik talked a bit about watching Scheffler picking off his yardages to within a yard. I've watched DJ do that too with his wedges. Scottie does it trying to hit it all the way up to like 200 exactly with a 6-iron and he's hitting it 200.5, 199.7, etc. Absolutely mind blowing how good his distance control is. Insane.
