71 today.

Missed two short, almost gimme putts (one for birdie, one for par) but also hit some really good pitches to get up and down from a couple tough spots.

Finished my 4th round in 5 days. Pretty pleased with my averages. Four different courses that averaged 6,231 yards with rating, and  slope  averages of 70.7/130

Averaged 81.5 per round. Low round was a 79, and my high round was an 84. All were in 50 degee, partly cloudy, breezy weather. Some intermittent sprinkles too.

All my previous practices were geared for these rounds. I took my game more serious than I normally do. Just wanted to see what I actually had in my tank, so to speak.

Had the same caddy all four rounds who helped me out quite a bit. He  told me for my age, I played pretty well.

Tomorrow is going to be a fun day, as I am going to play a par 3 course with nothing but my ironwood's, (2-sw) and my Enterprise putter. :-D

Played Brookside #1 from the blue tees  and shot 77 (40/37). Had a double and three birdies. Hit 11 fairways and 10 greens with 31 putts. That double I had was with a  gap wedge from the middle of the fiairway.  Next hole was a 290 par four and made bogey, so round could have been much better, but I'm still pleased.

Yesterday played Brookside# 1 again and shot yet another 77.  This time a 37/40.  Back nine was disappointing. Should have shot like maybe a 37 with a 74 total.  Had a seven and eight iron on two par fives on the back nine and parred them both.  Only one three putt which was on the last hole and made double. Talk about a heartbreaker. A really tough finishing last hole.  Ironically had a birdie on a hole with one of the worst drives of the day. Made 14 pars total. Hooking a lot of shots which is what I have to work on. Otherwise, pleased to be shooting in the 70s again.  Playing same course today but at an earlier time so maybe the conditions will be different.

Shot a 40 yesterday, 5 GIR, 1 birdie, 4 pars. Best 9-hole score of my short career thus far.

Shot an 82 yesterday on Brookside #1 (42/40).  The front nine was brutal! Doubled the first hole from a hundred yards out. What a tricky opening hole. I'm thinking of going for the green  instead of laying next time because I know I can get there. The only good thing about my golf was posting in the clubhouse and now my trend is a 7.8! Got out a little earlier and over did it on the driving range. Got too overheated before the round and didn't  feel good on the first tee. Plus the group I was playing in was slow and the course was packed and the round played  in at 6 hours! So a lot of waiting all day. I guess that's the penalty for wanting to play mid morning at Brookside on a Friday. And once again, a five iron on hole #15, a par five, and made bogey.  Had the case of the hooks, even with the wedges. It's really frustrating. Thinking about playing a fade on every shot next round so I'll have to work on that on the driving range over the weekend.

Yesterdays round of 80 with 4 birdies was my best this year.  I hope to repeat or beat my all time low of 78 (over 20 years ago) at some point, but if not, still beats showing up at the office everyday!

65....in a scramble lol. Three man team, and of course didn’t come close to winning. Played in 38 degree weather which is my coldest to date I believe.

+6 round Les Pins at Hardelot. Nice course, albeit a little shorter than I'm used to. Main issue was the greens being half-frozen, half just slow and hadn't been rolled, which made it nigh on impossible to hole anything from outside of 6 feet (at least for me). Think I made one good putt on 15 and that was it. Otherwise, played pretty well - dropped two stupid shots with really poor tee shots on par threes on the back nine though, which did irritate me!

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

Another +6 at Le Touquet (La Mer). What I'm learning is that when the fairways are generous, I can score pretty well even when not playing that well. Short game also travels, but my iron play really needs work - far too many poorly hit iron shots (2, 7, 10, 12 and 18 - each of which, bar a really good sand save on 2, cost me a shot). Get that part of the game sorted and make sensible decisions on the course and the handicap should start to drop this year.

Also goes to show how tough my home course is that I've shot +6 twice when not playing lights out on two other top courses!

77!!! Par 65 course but my second lowest differential ever...14.8. What a fun round. Had multiple GIRs and only three holes where I didn’t hit a nGIR. +12 is my best score ever in relation to par!

40-48 for an 88.  Overcast, quite damp, with a light mist.  One 4 hole stretch (11-14) accounted for 10 of the +16.

Yesterdays round was a 79 (41-38) with (4) 3 putts. For some reason, I just lost the feel for 4 holes.

Day 8 - played today...meh. 83  with a few doubles (Diff 13). It was an easier course and would've liked to score better, but first time out since November.

11/18 GIR, 13/14 FW

42/45=87. My index has jumped to an 8.1 meaning for the first time since tracking my hcp 7-8 yrs ago It’s now in double digits. Why?  Not my health or age: it’s trying to get better. The more lessons I take the worse I get.

    • Going to a Friendsgiving tomorrow and I am bringing a no-bake cheesecake. I make the crust too big, but I think it turned out good. The filling is really good.
    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
