The hardest course I've played this year was probably the TPC Stadium course at PGA West. I'm not sure really what the easiest course is that I played this year, however.

Same here. Trouble on every hole, and almost no bad stroke goes unpunished. Just a mentally draining course. The only one that comes close for me is La Purisima, which is rated 73/137, but can play much harder than that in heavy afternoon winds.

A funny experiment would be to rank all of the courses by what I perceive as the difficulty, and then compare that to the ratings.  I don't think any of them would match. :-P

I'm guessing that your personal difficulty rankings would correlate more closely to the slope than to the course rating. Like me, you've got enough distance to play any course up to about 7,000 yards. But if there's OB, water, lots of sand, etc. our scorecards start to add up in a hurry.

Easiest: Reigate Hill - lots of relatively short par 4s or reachable par 5s meant the driver could stay in the bag for much of the round and therefore lots of fairways and greens :-) - http://www.gamegolf.com/player/benpage101/round/553450

Hardest: Either Viviary Park GC (a random muni where I was incredibly hungover on my stag do!) or Woburn, Marquess - where the recent British Masters was just held. Great course, but absurdly long in the wind and rain and with incredibly sloping greens (http://www.gamegolf.com/player/benpage101/round/461466).

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

What's in the bag: Callaway X2 Hot Driver, Titleist 915F 3 wood, X2 Hot 3 Hybrid, 3, 5-AW Apex Pro irons, 54*, 58* Cleveland RTX, Odyssey Versa 1 Putter

Toughest would be Eagle Glen, where we played the SoCal Fall outing (72, 71.6, 134, 6510)

Easiest would be Newport Beach golf course, which is a dirty little executive course (59, 54.7, 81, 3216)

Just played Silver Lakes in Bäma and it was one of the toughest course I played this year.

Many uphill approaches to ridiculously large tiered greens. Also, fairways were being over-seeded, very wet / soft conditions made course play long.

Also, Anthem CC, Ironwood Course was a very tough course. A long, tight desert course.

Easiest course, Seville CC in Phoenix. By far the most enjoyable course I've ever played.

A very stress free golf course, very challenging, but very fair.

Easiest is my league course, Campbell's Scottish Highlands, 5746 67.6 116. It is a short course, but there are a lot of dog leg holes that require less than driver.

Hardest in New England, Black Swan 6425 71.3/124

The easiest course I've played this year has been 69.9/124.  The most difficult has been 70.9/141.

Funny thing is that I didn't find that course to be overly difficult.  The one I found to be most difficult was a 71.4/136 course.
