Me too. It's funny, I'm beginning to see Sergio and Philip in the same light. As Tigs' biggest fan, they used to be my sworn enemies in the past, but as they've mellowed in their maturity they've gone from insufferable to tolerable.

I've always been a fan of Phil and Tiger.  I recognize Phil and Tiger were rivals but I never viewed their rivalry as intense as the one between Tiger and Sergio. I feel Phil recognized that Tiger was a phenom and respected his talent while Sergio never wanted to make such acknowledgements and begrudged Tigers success.

I do find myself liking Sergio more these days, he has a lot of talent, unfortunately mentally it seems unable to get out of his own way.

Sergio used to be such a dark, scowly guy that he was hard to like, but now he's out there having fun and I think it's won him a lot of fans, good for him.

But he has the winning yips, he can't make the putts, but I don't think it matters all that much to him, he seems happy just being one of the best in the game and getting paid a lot of money to do it, who can blame him?

Garcia - cool fairway wood hook escape from rough. He came dangerously close to that van/grandstand/tree.

Mickelsonbombed. Saves you the trouble from asking him to pose with you.

It's an interesting tournament because that course is very hard, so better players tend to rise to the top.

It's always seemed to me that the Bear's Trap holes are deceptive. If they weren't given the clever name, I'm wondering if people would even notice them for what they really are. They look so plain or ordinary--water and bunkers on a Florida course are pretty much expected, vanilla features. And 15 and 17 seem to be very similar holes. But they are HARD. Subtle features that are hard to appreciate when TV flattens the perspective, like the slopes, the dimensions of the green relative to the line of play, the wind, the distance from the tee, etc. It's fun watching pros being challenged and those holes do it well.

I'm hoping Sergio can sustain his good play. Sergio is more disliked than liked, and he certainly has done and said some things which have invited negative criticism. But like many things in life, I think his negative traits are exaggerated, and his virtues under appreciated. He is a fantastic golf talent and I would love to see him conquer his demons and win big. Maybe a win at a course like this will prime him for that elusive major win that I know he covets.

Ouch, Rory.  +3 after 5 holes. Looks like he was near the green on the Par 3 fifth hole, but his his second into the water. Then dropped and pitched on, two-putt. Triple bogey drops him to 96th place, from around 60th place before the hole.

Brutal round for Rory.

Well going +5 on the Par 3's today pretty much killed his tournament.

Hopefully he doesn't have a kickabout, since he isn't playing the weekend

Phil's swing looks the best I've seen it in a while.  He's getting a nice turn and coming through smoothly.  I'd love to have that swing.

I see that PGATour Live has a free option that includes early round streaming, but it doesn't seem to work for me.  Does anybody know why this is the case.

I'm streaming it now on the NBC Sports app on my Roku.  Looks nice.

Saw Cjeka hole out with a chip.  Second hole this tournament he doesn't need a putter for.

And look, the top four so far in strokes gained, tee to green, are the top four on the leaderboard.  But really, putt for dough, right? ;-)

Jimmy Walker was just introduced on the tee as Jimmy Fowler.  Not as awkward as introducing Tommy Aaron, fresh off the Walker Cup team, as Tommy Walker.

Adam Scott is just eating up this course. It's fun to watch him when he's going like this.

Yeah, very happy to see him being competitive with the short putter. Great ball striker.

Adam Scott just hit a great tee shot on #15, unless you're rooting for him.

Two balls in the water!  An ace here gets him a double bogey.

39 holes without a bogey and now he has to make a 10 footer for a 6 wow.

    • Day 211 (29 Nov 24) - Friday men’s round albeit a solo foursome (temps in the 40’s, day after Thanksgiving and the average age closer to 75 - I’m a youngster at 65).  Interesting day of semi-solid play (8 of 18 GIR). Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
