This was a cool video. Assuming the camera angles are the same:

Setup: McIlroy wider stance, hands more forward, a little bitty less SAT, Day, slightly stronger grip.

McIlroy has a little more wrist hinge going to the top, does something with his neck tilt around A6.

Day points his stomach, Bat Signal to the sky a tad more than McIlroy, rear foot comes off ground a little more.

Of course, I can be totally off, caveat emptor, not a professional. What do you see?  They look very similar, guessing a down the line video might show more differences.

Yeah, this was a cool comparison.

Seems like Rory hit that driver more on the upswing than Jason. Wonder if that was just that swing for Jason, or if he always does that. If he always does that, I wonder if he could get more distance by making that small change. I doubt it. I bet his numbers are maxed out considering how high he hits the ball, but that's a bit of a trip to even think that's possible.

Tempo is interesting, Rory beats Day to parallel despite Day getting a 10-12 inch head start on the takeaway but then Rory pauses at the top a hair longer and they both start down at the same time.

Rory's transition is longer, but I wouldn't call it a 'pause' he's doing some very active things while the club is hanging out there at the top.

In full speed video he doesn't pause at all, I was just describing it using a phrase with commonly held meaning. I guess you could say Day is more "float-loady" instead.

I see very different ball positions.

Rory is just aligned to the camera a little differently than Day.

Rory may be aimed slightly more left than Day with his feet, but not enough that the relative ball position difference would be negated. Relative player position to camera is same (boat has moved but tee marker and background trees are the same.

Was this the 13th or 14th tee? Do we know where the drives landed?

I saw that video on Facebook. Pretty neat little comparison, and a whole lot of similarities to my eye. I'm sure those more discriminating could pick out the differences.

Gotcha. Yeah, Rory's wrist set is much sooner.

You guys are funny - for all intents and purposes, these are very similar builds (proportions, athleticism) and what looked like nearly identical swings.  When they showed that during the tourney, I was amazed.  You really have to be grasping at straws to see anything here that would affect outcome.  But I suspect that's the goal in this thread, so I promised to rain on it any more.

I'd like to see down the line.  Wonder what's there?

I think they're quite a bit differently aimed. Look at the relative position of Rory's hands, arms, etc. and where they sit against his body, relative to Jason's, and so on. The camera is left (relative to perpendicular to the target line) in Rory's case.

IMO Day's stance is slightly closed to the line between the camera and the tee marker (left foot looks larger / advanced relative to the tee marker. Rory's feet look to be more at the same depth / distance from the camera.

I definitely see no evidence the camera has moved. Same tee, same boat, same round against each other. I think it was 14th based on background. Here's where the drives went (Day = Red, McIlroy = Blue):

Announcers commented on Rory being a bit twisted (feet closed, body open) on that a lot with 'down the line' views, especially on drives.

See the tree in the background and the tee marker (two references)?  I think the camera view is moved to the right on Rory - so the video is square to both based on the feet anyway.  Rory's feet are lined up more left of target (or JD is right,,,,either way).  I can't tell if their shoulders point the same or offset similarly,...

But you're the pro...

I see twins born a few minutes apart??

So splitting hair - Rory always seemed like he squeezed into his lower body more (head drop, more 2nd axis tilt, angles narrowing out before impact ever more so slightly, etc.) into impact than anybody else.

My guess is Jason's swing looks more like Adam Scott's. They both seem to finish more centered than Rory, who ends up more on top of left side. I would guess he curves his drives little less than Rory if you take an average of 50 good drives each.
