What does everyone think of the new "Blade" collar that Nike has come out with?  It looks intriguing, to say the least.  Rory has been wearing it for about a month now on some of his shirts.

I'm thinking about ordering one and seeing how I like it.

So far I am not a fan. Probably it is targeted at demographic younger than me, but I think it looks like he is wearing a regular shirt with something wrong with its collar.

I think I like the old actual collar more. But I'm not a 20-something super-fit guy.

5NikeStyle-847-Handout.jpgTo me it looks not like a collar but some strange appendage,

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

I like the look of it, but I'm not convinced it would be very comfortable.  It almost seems like it'd feel like a mock turtleneck.

It's also $90.

For that price, there are some REALLY nice polo shirts by "premium" companies like Maide Golf.

I'd hate to admit how many multiple shirts I can  buy for  $90. Also I don't want to dress that nice. People will expect to much off the tee.

For me, it is precisely 3.01003.  ;-)

(I get my golf shirts at Uniqlo for $29.90/each)

That one is actually the "roll" collar, but looks very similar to the blade.  The difference is the "roll collar" folds over, almost like a shawl collar, where as the blade does not.

I placed an order for the $80 blade polo.  We will see when I get it in how I like it.  Hopefully it'll be pretty sweet, otherwise it goes right back to Nike.

I had never heard of that site before, but just checked it out, and ut oh.  You may have me hooked.  I really like some of their styles.

  • 1 month later...

Just a quick update, I received my blade collar polo a few weeks ago, and absolutely love it.  I like it even more than I thought I would.  It fits great, and the collar ads something subtly different.  I'll be honest, if they weren't $80-$90 a pop I would buy 1 or 2 more.  For now, just the one will have to do.

If these don't sell as Nike hoped I might be able to score a few on sale in a few months.

I get mine at Ross and Burlington Coat Factory. Usually are PGA Golf shirts, Greg Norman, Izod, and even Nike golf shirts for anything from $14.99 to about $22.99. If a golf shirt is priced at $24.99 I say to myself "you're crazy" and put it back on the rack. I do have one  Footjoy golf shirt with my home course name and emblem on it but that was a Christmas present.

As just stated. In a year or two you will be able to get last seasons in Ross or Marshall's etc for less than half price. You may not be as cool as the guy with the current seasons shirt but you will be cooler than popped collar guy...:-P

It's basically a mock collar with a split in the front. Dress shirts with these kind of collars have been around for ages. I like it, but not running to buy it.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

Yup. It's also called a banded collared shirt. Looks close enough to me anyway.

I think its silly. Is it a golf shirt or a bath robe?

TTH

Huh?  I fail to see the bath robe resemblance?  Maybe you were referring to the picture with the "roll" collar above.

This is the blade collar polo.

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
