While waiting for weather, Andrew Landry information below, in case he stays hot the rest of this round, and into the next.

He'd be a candidate for that "Lightning in a Bottle" thread.  Ranked 600th or so in the world for a while now. The big jump up from 1500 to 450 was a win on web.com early in 2015, and he's been mostly holding on since then.

Ugh this really puts a damper on the tournament.  Gonna be a congested Friday and Saturday now.

Because the networks are stale, people working there have been there forever, resting on their past, way back laurels.

[Cynicism]

He'll come back to the field, don't you worry. The golfing gods have it in hand. It's like cycling, the peloton usually reels the breakaway in. And it's usually a spectacular blow up hole. Don't mean to be down on Mr. Landry, but all this has happened before, and it will happen again.

Yah, this is DeChambeau's to lose. :-D

But pretty good stats by Landry so far:

Screen Shot 2016-06-16 at 2.44.31 PM.png

Hitting it longer than the field, more often in the fairway, then hitting more greens and sinking more putts.

Quite a contrast to Danny Lee, T3 at -2 after 9:

Screen Shot 2016-06-16 at 2.47.54 PM.png

Missing more fairways, with shorter drives, not hitting the greens as often- but scrambling and sinking a lot of putts.

Lots of ways to get to the top of the leaderboard part way through Day 1.

    • It’s winter here and time hitting at my indoor place.  This year I bought and sold a few sets so I didn’t settle in on anything. For this coming season, starting now I have a choice to make.  What set would you guys use? 1.  Nike Vapor Pro irons - They are like new, hit them some last year before I had to demo other sets.  I love them, original grips, barely used so I’m almost not wanting to use them to keep their value up.  Standard LLL and standard grips. 2. Taylormade P7TW irons - Still in the box.  Got them over a year ago but had too much to hit, never used them.  Have used a set in the past and loved them.  Ended up with my own set custom fit to me -1/4”, 1 degree flat midsize grips.  These are probably not as valuable because they are still available and they are fit to me. I hate to put the Nikes away but it makes more sense to save them than the TW’s…. I dunno….
    • Day 215 (3 Dec 24) - Another very chilly day - opted to work on easy pitches in the backyard. Worked thru the irons and wedges - focused on foot position and tempo.
    • Yes. I believe in using the same ball all of the time, including chipping and putting practice. I use the orange Callaway Supersoft.  Only $25 per dozen, and sometimes on sale for $20.
    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
