Sounds like I went away for an exciting segment.  What happened?

Westwood holed out from the fairway on 5, causing a roar just as DJ was standing over a bogey putt on 3. DJ missed; four-shot swing.

You never make predictions. Just rip on others. Easy peasy.

I have learned to not stick my foot in my mouth at an early age with predictions. It became easy peasie after a couple of lessons. I will apologize to ChrisP but not to nevets88.

Dang, and I missed the excitement.  Thanks!

Yah, the lead has been all over the place. I think the same 5 guys have been in red figures for the last hour or two, but they've swapped leads: Lowry, Landry, DJ, Westwood, Garcia.

FWIW- the commentator on the web feed for Jason Day's group just mentioned that even though Day is within 4, "there will be separation from the leaders as they get to the back 9- since the back 9 is playing so much easier."

Ok, then we will see if "there will be separation from the leaders" How many strokes are considered separation?

And Jason Day is getting precariously close to 63 Watch.

Wife wants to know if the leaders have a chance of finishing the round before dark, and what happens if they don't. I ran out of answers.

Tomorrow morning at 7 am apparently.

That "Tomorrow" heart medication commercial is the absolute worst.

Omg yes. Aren't they supposed to focus group those things? Who ever thought that was a good idea??

Yep.  Then they have to get the course ready for the fourth round, and then play.

How did they ever manage back when U.S. Opens had 36 holes on Saturdays to finish?

Personally, I don't see it playing out with much separation. We'll see. The back nine is still playing slightly over par. The front is about a stroke and a half over par, but Day is on fire. That would negate any difference in the way the two nines are playing. Kinda cool that Day is the only leader who is playing on the "front 9" right now though. Interesting dynamic.

They focus group all sorts of things, and somehow UPS had a "what can brown do for you?" ad campaign.

Well said, and I agree.

Ha, now the commentator said his lie is "awful" and he'll have to wedge it out to the fairway on his 2nd shot.

DJ, Westwood, Garcia and Day perfectly positioned to capitalize tomorrow

Well, after a lousy Thursday (see story in post #254), today was pretty great.  Parking pass, and entry in the members tent just next to No. 1 tee.  I'm still not thrilled with this as a spectator sport but I did see a lot of big names and a few birdies.  Had some Fat Tires in an air conditioned tent and had a good time with the family.  Nephews even had fun.

Golf-on-TV burnout rapidly approaching toast levels, but I'm still here at 8:08PM. Cool (and brutal) looking course. Lowry always did kind of strike me as a one-time major winner, probably dating back to the first time I ever heard of him, when he won the Irish Open as an amateur several years ago. Not saying he's gonna pull it out, but he always kind of struck me as that guy who randomly picked one off.
