This is my latest swing video. I need to get a new one done. This one is about two weeks old. If it doesn't rain on Sun...

Ignore the colors. For once I didn't really pay attention to red or green.

Still likely a little flip, but not a bad position on the right. Left arm bending as head is lifting a little so you don't stick the club in the ground behind the ball, but otherwise, not too bad.

I'd start to look at addressing the stuff on the left. Your hips sway back, your head goes forward a little (particularly in transition). So they have to "swap" the rest of the downswing, because your tilt is the opposite direction of what it should be.

These pictures explain why you struggle with the driver. Down the line I'm guessing we'd see the shaft get steep and the sweetspot travel left a bit, too.

You're likely flexible enough to get more turn if you do it properly, too.

@mvmac once recommend that I look at / emulate Zach Johnsons swing.  If your shoulders stall out through impact you are going to have a flip.  You've made some improvement in this area, quick improvement at that.  But still, compare to Zach and how he maintains that triangle of the arms and shoulders:

His lower body and thus his  torso stop rotating. That's why his left arm and thus wrist break down.

It's probably because he's steep and left a little. He's said he slices his driver. Tough to keep your body rotating when you're already steep and left.

I still like the Wall Drill for now, but would love to see a DL video.

Agree with @iacas, do a bunch of wall drills and turn instead of swaying the hips back.

As other mentioned, the left arm and lead wrist breaks down but that's a result of the pivot stalling. So to create more pivot, add more turn on the backswing.

Get more of the Hideki look, big turn, turn the hips in place (hips a little forward of the upper body).

Yours is the opposite.

You won't actually touch the wall, though. The wall is just a reference point (that you don't want to get closer to).

Thank you tons for the feedback. I'm still working on the hip turn, and I've learned about shallowing out the club at the top--those two are my swing priorities right now. It's all a work in progress, but I'm happy you see progress. My coach is really helping. Hopefully I'll get more video in the next few days.

Again, many thanks.

Best wishes. Don

Your left wrist is breaking down compared to zach- knuckles down and hold that follow through --it's a good start

Zach has a very straight left arm through impact

Oh, that left wrist! That's my weak spot, for sure. I'm so far ahead of where I was, but still, far to go. Thanks for the feedback.

Ah. Got it. Will do

Make sure the camera lines up with your toe line. The best way to set that up is to get in your stance then put the club along your toe line. Then go back and set up the camera or phone to point down that line.

Good tip. Thanks!

One of my swing thoughts is "take the club back by starting the hip turn." I used to think "begin with the left shoulder." I think the hip turn start is better for me. Which brings me to a question that's been bothering me lately.

Michael Breed on the Golf Fix said the angle of the club at belt high should be parallel to the angle of the spine. I have been practicing the chain drill, or starting the club toe up, finishing at waist level toe up. Which of these is correct? Or does it matter? Is the a style more than a dynamic?

Thanks.

Toe up at A2 is open to the plane. I can't seem to find the thread that addresses this right now but it's probably not your priority anyway.

Does anyone have a link to the definitive thread on swing priorities? I searched, but came up empty. Thanks.

There wouldn't be one because everyone's swing is different. Your priority piece is the thing that will affect your swing and give you the most improvement/fixes what is holding you back in your swing currently.

Priority pieces depend on your golf swing. Someone might need the same fix, but go about it in completely different ways.

Very rarely a priority might be the short game or putting. Most of the time it is a fundamental lack of one of the 5 swing keys.

Read some of the stuff @iacas and @mvmac have posted.

If the face is parallel to the spine then the toe won't be "up", should look more like the left pic and not the right pic.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
