The video title says mobbed, but sadly, isn't this what happens every time?

The PGA Tour just this week started having "kids only" areas. I think that if they can educate the pros about those areas, and still do a bit to monitor who is getting in (so that kids aren't just put up to it by the adults), that will go a long way toward solving it.

I saw another post: why not just have the caddie take selfies with all of the players, and post them each week to the website. Hand out cards that say "Your selfie with ________ will be on the website playername.com and you can download it free within a few days." BAM.

That said, I've gotten autographs exactly twice in my life: the second time was at the senior PGA in 2005 in Laurel Valley when I was there as a fan. That flag hangs in my office to this day. The first time was outside of a Pirates game in 1990 or 1989 or so. I got Bob Patterson's signature. Big whoop.

Signatures, I don't know… just never saw much appeal after that.

I am not an autograph seeker.  I would not even approach that crowd.

However, I did get a first edition of The Prince of Tides signed by Pat Conroy for my wife for her birthday. "For the love of words and books" -Pat Conroy. A friend of mine knew his brother and we mailed it down. We are big fans of his books.

Almost all adults trying to get things signed as a business venture. No wonder the athletes hate it.

I've requested one autograph in my adult life, it was for my wife.  Chuck Yeager.  My wife was an air traffic controller at the time and actually talked to him while he was landing.

I got to go to an event he was at that night and had an opportunity.  He signed his name with his call letters underneath, Cash 1 1, which I had to recite to prove to him that she had guided him in.  That was pretty cool.

Pretty sure we got hammered and promptly lost the damn thing but it was memorable to meet the great man.

I realize that was off-topic but the mem just popped into my head so I shared.

I have similar autographs. I have harrison schmitt and micheal collins from an space conference i went to in florida. I prize both greatly, not so much for the autograph themselves, but more for the memory they provide.

Little late to the party but Jordan Spieth got some airtime after denying some autograph seekers and then snapped at them when they dropped the f-bomb in front of some kids.  I thought that was pretty classy of him.  On the Sirius XM PGA Tour station, one of the talk show guys said Spieth has two autographs: one is very clear and legible and the other is just a big scribble.  Guess who gets what?

Personally, I don't care much for autographs or meeting famous people just to say, "I said hi to so-and-so".  I went to a book signing once more because I wanted to hear the Q&A with the author (Matt Ruff) as much as anything.  As people approached him to sign his book, he'd look at you expectantly as if saying "who am I making this out to."  When it got to me, I simply said, "Matt".  He gave me a strange look and said, "what?"  "No," I said," my name's Matt, too."  "ah," he replied, "good name."  And then he signed it like every other book.

I read about that. I think he handled it perfectly. Jordan seems a pretty cool cat in dealing with the public/media.

That said, I have, my entire life, had less than zero interest in autographs. Baffles the crap out of me. Okay, you have something that someone wrote on...... congrats buddy? Lol.

I've had celebrities "offer" me their autographs - so vain. Probably B or C list.

I have one autograph. Phil on my TPC Sawgrass flag. He was in the parking lot before his practice round and me and two buddies where the only one there. It was very easy to say, good luck, can I have your autograph and he did it. Never would imagine trying to push through people to get an autograph. Its just dumb. If you buy something with someones autograph on it and pay more than sticker price, that too, is dumb IMO.

When I was a kid I got a few Red Sox autographs. They usually have a player or two hang out down the 1st base line. Couldn't tell now you whose it was.

I've never really seen the appeal in getting autographs. Never meet your idols, they say.
