So the skinny is this… I'm looking to put together four amateurs to play Streamsong Red, Blue, and Black December 10-13 in a five-man pro-am. It's mostly for fun, but there are some small cash prizes you can win. The lodging is right there at the Streamsong Resort, breakfast/lunch are included, plus some prizes, tee gifts, etc.

The deets:

  • December 10-13, 2017
  • $2395 (Double Occupancy)
  • Format: 1 Net + 1 Gross Score
  • Included:
    • 3 tournament rounds: Red, Blue, Black (carts, caddies extra if you wish to take them)
    • Breakfast and lunch daily
    • Deluxe tee gifts
    • Opening Reception/Registration
    • Prize fund
    • Closing Awards lunch
    • Optional skins game
    • 3 nights accommodations at Streamsong Resort

Deadline for the down payment ($2500 total) is August 10, 2017.

If you're interested, post in this thread. I'll be honest… it's gonna help if you're at least a little bit of an architecture fan. These are some GREAT golf courses that are tough to play, and we'll be staying right there on the property.

Sounds like a ton of fun.  The feedback from my buddies who have stayed and played there is that the golf and facilities are world class.  Unfortunately, this one is right over my daughter's birthday... :-(

I thought caddies were mandatory, including a shared caddie for those in carts. No?

PLEASE NOTE: The rates shown to play in the Pro-am DO NOT include the cost of taking a pull cart, riding cart, caddie or forecaddie.

  • Streamsong®Black (No Carts allowed anytime)
  • Streamsong®Blue and Streamsong® Red (Carts allowed after 11:00 am & forecaddie required with cart rental)

You can carry your own bag, too. So people wanting to go on this trip should be able to carry their bag for 18 holes three days in a row.

As we get closer to having four people very interested, and August 10, I'll clarify the caddie policy, but right now my understanding is that caddies are not required. Heck, they're allowing fivesomes with this event, so… :-)

I'm definitely interested, just have to do some negotiations with the boss at home, and the boss at the office.  I'll be back when I know more about my own availability.

I looked at my time off and double checked to make sure I do not have any other plans. As of right now I am strongly still interested in going.

Great! I'm still in if we can set this up, too. We just need three others like you by about August 10. Ten more days or so.

I'd love to go, and Mary Anne has encouraged me, but we've just been awarded three new projects, and it seems doubtful that I'll be able to get away.  Reluctantly, I'm going to have to pass.

I'm interested and could likely pull this off since I'll have to wait for 2019 for Newport cup ;-).

Great. Two more people needed.

If either of you (you or @saevel25) know anyone else… Only thing is they need to be able to walk a bit.

Well, that and $2.5k! ;-)

It's so close to me, but I can't plan anything with the project I'm working on. That's going to be the final phase of testing, so I doubt I can take time off. :-(

Sorry, I so would do this but I am out. BTW, played Streamsong Blue last week and I cannot agree with @David in FL more. It is a phenomenal piece of land!

For those considering this, it was an absolute blast to walk it. They have push carts super cheap if you do not want to carry on shoulders.

Well, the deadline was extended to August 31, and I'm still willing to go if we can get two more.

But…

I can also attend my PGA Level 3 stuff then (or I can do it in early 2018), so I'm not going to push too hard. If two more people want to sign on to go, great!

    • Day 16: range night! Worked on long game for about 40 minutes, with a good solid 20 minute focus on my priority piece. Things improving there. Bookended that with some wedge and driver work. Finished up with about 30 minutes of short game. Working on distance control and all types of shots and lies. Short game is probably as good as it has ever been.
    • You should be able to install it yourself, honestly. You could easily blow it on and use some one-sided duct tape or something so it stays in place. That's what I've done with one of my grips.
    • Day 22 (12 July 26) - worked on putting tempo today using metronome for accurate tempo.
    • Hi all, My Edel putter seems to have developed a rattle.  I don't think it's a big deal, as I mostly hear it when I'm tapping down ball marks on greens.  However, I am debating getting it fixed, especially as I intend to play a lot of golf in August and September, and to continue playing regularly after that of course too.  My issue is I think fixing it would entail the fixer (golf shop repair station?) removing the grip and, presumably, applying a new one.  My problem is two-fold.   First, I like the grip on it, although after eleven years, maybe it's worth replacing.   The bigger (second) issue is getting the grip.  I don't like the flat-fronted putter grips anymore.  I have the round one on my putter, and I suppose I could buy one from Edel's website, but would a golf shop install a grip I bought elsewhere and brought in?  Or could they order one if Edel is not a supplier of theirs?  I don't recall ever seeing any Edel products in a Roger Dunn or PGA Superstore, although the era when I would go to a store and browse has long since ended (for better or worse).  I'd also wonder what the timetable is, as I'm leaving for a seven week trip in under three weeks. Any suggestions on what to do would be very welcome, whether about the rattle or the grip, together or independently.  Thank you!
    • I'm glad to know that picking up grass and letting it go doesn't help.  It felt like it shouldn't, but I'm glad to hear there's a good reason why.  It makes sense that wind is different higher up than it is near the surface. For a while, I was in the habit of checking the prevailing wind direction before playing.  That helped if I wasn't sure.  However, I still am not really sure whether something is a 5% wind or a 10% wind (and, of course, I know that a "helping" wind helps about half as much as the same wind hurting).   One of these days, I'll learn how to figure out what to do differently if the prevailing wind is 10mph vs 20 mph.
