Anyone Carry and Use a Really Old Club?

I've been using this 2 iron probably since 1983 when I lifted(rescued) it and the 1 iron from dad's bag. He couldn't hit them to save his life, so I liberated the clubs from his worm burner tyranny. Sadly, he lost(so he claims, I think he wrapped bit around a box elder tree) the 1 iron when he decided to take it to a tournament one day. I would have to guess this club is from about 1975-1980. It's still in amazing shape and I do use it  since I have zero control over fairway woods. What do you all sport ?

I still use an Orlimar 3 wood.  I'm guessing 1996 or so

Is that a metal faced club, or wood? Someone was telling me if I used any of my old woods from my sets in the 70s and 80s, I'd destroy them on these new balls.

I do too!  For that matter most of the clubs in my bag were purchased from 1995 - 1998.

Ray Cook Nugget (heavy) putter. I putt better when I use it, so I use it. Weight and alignment make it easier for me to get the pace. -Marv

I use this as my gap wedge. It might be older than I am.

I used to use a pitching wedge from my Ben Hogan Apex II (Black Cameo) set as my GW but it's harder to hit and designed like an iron rather than a wedge so not as versatile around the greens. Depending on the source, the black cameos are either from 1979 or 1983.

Two putters ago, I used a Ping Pal for about 5 seasons. I e-mailed a photo of the head to Ping, and they said it was from circa 1973 - and authentic. Ping said it had an older numbering pattern, and they couldn't tell me the exact year.

I used the Pal for a couple of years, then had it adjusted. The head was heavy, and I could putt out of inch-deep greenside rough with it. But, I had trouble on long-distance putts. I eventually switched to a custom-fit Ping B60 from a Christmas raffle, and have since moved on to the Slotline (see sig line).

I have an old wooden 4 wood that I have hit at the range and my "backup" putter is a Ping Anser circa late 1970's/early 1980's.
Neither has seen the course in over 10 years (maybe 15)

Guess it depends on what you consider old.  I have one of the earliest left handed models of the Ping Anser.  I put it back in my bag occasionally for old times sake or slow greens.

The Scotty Cameron I usually carry is basically the same design, just a little heavier which I like for quicker greens.

The guy that beat me in a playoff in the one of the club championships i play in was doing damage with like a 30 year old bullseye putter. It looked like a overripe banana stuck to a chrome shaft. Demoralizing.

Again not old in the true sense of the word but my current ( never to be replaced) driver is a Titleist 975, when I walk up to a tee I sometimes get asked if it's a 3 wood.

I usually bag a Ping Anser putter from the 1980's. So that's prob 30 years old. Works fantastic, no plans to replace it.

This 975J i had was the best driver i ever owned. I loved that thing. Eventually crown cracked on it right above the face. I got another head on ebay or something but it was never quite the same as my old gamer.

I have this club made by Techmaster, which I assume by its looks was made by Allied. It's a traditional smaller head driver, even smaller than the Warbird, like 1970s style small. I'm not even sure if it's a men's club, to be honest. All I know is I smack the crap out of the ball with no slice. Even after breaking my back and heel, that is the one club I can consistently push to 300. And of course, I snapped the head off it at the range a few weeks ago. It's in for repairs, the shaft tip won't extract from the damn hosel.

yes...I worked at Titleist when the 975D and 976R first came out. Awesome clubs, I even liked the "cat in the hat" head cover. Very solid block of Titanium (or so it felt like). I used to see sparks fly when hit off the deck (usually caused by the sand in the turf at tee boxes. Lofts were a little stronger then  7 up to about 10.5  These came out shortly after the "Howitizer" which I detested.

I have a Ping putter that I acquired in 1969.  It stills works as well for me as any of the myriad of new putters I have, which isn't all that great.  :)  

I use it occasionally because it makes me concentrate on hitting the sweet spot, which is about the size of the sharp end of a golf tee.
