Is Colorado an "Eastern" state? I notice I was awarded "Eastern Team Candidate", but when I look it shows the red cup and gives the description for the Western team. Could be a bug on my end though, it says Western on my profile but hovering on the award underneath this post displays Eastern.

I'm not sure if trash talk is allowed yet, but regarding the 11-7 count doesn't quality beat quantity?

I'll echo everyone who has said how much fun we had in 2015.  I was lucky to be invited, as a relative newbie to the site, had never met any of the guys, and really hadn't been here long enough to get a real good impression of more than 3 or 4 of them.  I was a tiny bit hesitant.  Thankfully, my wife encouraged me, and I couldn't have had more fun.  I feel like I made 13 new friends, every one of whom loves golf.  I'd urge anyone who can get there, and whose handicap is in the right range, to give yourselves a chance.  You won't regret it.

The colors were muted last year so our "red" was really more like pink.  Is that better?

Yep. Red and blue. The Newport Cup is based on the name of the site of the first U.S. Open.

We could have named it after a famous "sand trap" (i.e. bunker), or called it something goofy like "The Sahara Cup" or something. But we didn't. We went with a U.S. theme. So white is the color for both teams, with red and blue.

Actually, yes. I much prefer pink.

Just thinking about it - I barely have any red in my wardrobe. All the red I have is either related to giving blood or Arsenal. I may or may not have a sickness.

Well, you have three options:

• I can remove you from the list of Candidates.
• You can move to the eastern half of the United States.
• You can put up with it.

I have to correct myself. It was only $450 last year. We'll do all we can, as I said, to keep that cost down.

Reasons I can likely make it and should be picked. 

1) I have a nice wardrobe of red shirts I can wear! 

2) I love going on golf trips to meet new people and NC is not somewhere I've been.

3) I'm gonna actually work on my game this year instead of being a slacker.

4) I'm single with no kids.

Only reasons I wouldn't be able to make it would be work conflicts or a lack of vacation days.
