He was 180 on Thursday, 178 on the holes they showed it Sunday.  Not sure if that is meaningful or not.  Speaking for myself, 2 mph feels like a lot (I'm just over 100 and hit 104 occasionally).  But who knows if he concentrated on swinging smoothly, if he was tired, or if the callibrations were different somehow.  Don't know enough about the technology.

2 MPH ball speed (not clubhead speed) is not very different.

Good point, I was mixing stats there.  So really just over 1 MPH of club head speed.

It fluctuated.  I think it was best on Friday, good on Saturday, less so on Sunday and Thursday.  That kind of thing seems like it would be a very simple "fix" in that it would just take repeptitions to get the feel back.  But who knows?

Yes, it was not consistent. He hit some very good shots around the green, but many poor ones too. I did see a number of other guys hitting poor chips & pitches from those collection areas near the greens. The announcers (for what it's worth) attributed many of those to the Bermuda grass. Even so, Tiger seemed below average on those shots. If he's going to contend, he'll need to improve that.

He just admitted to being wrong to get people to think he is human verse the cold blooded lizard we all know he really is. Plus he has had that bad PR with the "Dufner" so throwing a bone towards the good guys may help him with some of the golf community...

They misspelled the username for whatever reason.

Twitter got a character limit on usernames, max 15. They had to throw out one letter and probably went with the missing c.

That would be a good reason to misspell it.

Wow, 15 is lower than I imagined it would be.

Nice to see him admit a change of opinion... Loved seeing Tiger back - does anyone have an idea of how the ratings compared to other tournaments across the year?

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

What's in the bag: Callaway X2 Hot Driver, Titleist 915F 3 wood, X2 Hot 3 Hybrid, 3, 5-AW Apex Pro irons, 54*, 58* Cleveland RTX, Odyssey Versa 1 Putter

    • Day 548, May 3, 2024 Downswing work after lessons today. Good stuff continues. I can also make it a little shorter, back, and won't give up clubhead speed OR ball speed. I can actually launch it a bit lower as the hands will get down earlier.
    • I'm seeing Ben Griffin and Lexi Thompson, so… … that feels like a stretch. Need at least three others, IMO, to count as a "handful" and you need some names for me to care more than "Ben Griffin."

    • On the subject of teenagers in professional tournaments there is a kid (Kris Kim) who is a member of my club in England and is at my old school. He’s 16. He’s playing in the pga tour event in Texas this week. Shot 69 yesterday for T31 and is -2 today through 5 holes. T55 and on the cut line. I really hope he makes the cut. Will be awesome.    His dad I believe is a teaching pro and his mum was on the LPGA Tour for a while.
    • I have two contenders here that stick out to me: In second place, a putt to win the hole playing the 16th hole at Burnham and Berrow. Playing foursomes and the green has a big bank at the front then a flat bit and then it goes up again to a back shelf. My partner had hit our second shot onto the back shelf. We were 2up at the time and he was being a little wobbly so we didn’t want to lose the hole. Our oppo were conceded a 4 and my partner told me to just lag it down there nicely. 20 year old me meant to do that and failed. I hit it a bit hard and it was definitely going to clear the tier and probably run off the front of the green, but it hit the hole right in the middle and went in. My partner was very happy we won the hole but quite upset at my ability to follow instructions.    Number 2 is my most memorable. I was about 16 playing in the junior knockout at my club. We get to the 10th hole - long par 4 and index 2. I didn’t hit a very good drive, hit my second up about 60 yards short and pitched on to maybe 25 feet. I started walking and I got this feeling. I knew I was going to hole it. There was no doubt at all. I’ve never felt like that any other time in my life but this one putt was a certainty. It was February and the greens had been recently hollow tined so they were in awful shape. I didn’t even line it up. I hit my putt and it bumped and bounced all over the place until it went in the middle of the hole. If I could bottle up that feeling and sell it I’d be up there with Bezos and musk. Mind blowing!
