"5 Minutes Daily" Practice Challenge

Day 251

Still working on the priority piece with several new feels. Not sure which one works best as far as achieving the desired position/movement so I recorded a few swings with each one and sent to my instructor to get some input on which one looks best, and that’s the feel I’ll stick with.

Ball striking was pretty good today, but mostly making slow, 9-3 swings.

Day 9: more of the same practice and seeing progress. I think I will post an update on my swing thread soon. Slow swings and then some full swings focused on getting to the top. I feel I am in a good position and have started working on feels to help me get started in the downswing and it looks like I am slowly getting rid of that initial down movement. Key for today was trying to start downswing with left knee starting towards target. Promising results after a few video reviews.

Day 234 - August 18, 2020

Played 18 holes. Played nine yesterday, too, which went pretty well considering. Got a bit more of the flow feeling back.

Day 170 - Played 9 at a par 3 course as a break from painting. Didn’t strike the ball that well but had five pars. Lots of good short game shots.

Day 16:  Chipping practice.  Off of my mat and into a hula hoop into various locations around my backyard.  Hoop indicated the landing area, not the hole.

Day 61.  After yesterday, I wasn't happy with myself so I made two blocks of time to practice.

First block, 30 minutes late morning, did the wall exercise for 5 minutes, then hit two balls (after several slow practice swings, and a slow swing).  Then a few more iterations at the wall, then two balls, and so on.

Second block, hit a few balls slowly and then went out back to do speed sticks.

All ball hitting was indoors, off a mat, into a net, real balls (did not use plush today).

Day 28

Hit a small bucket of balls out at Tustin Ranch and then played 17 holes before it got to dark.

Made some seriously positive strides today. Discovered my grip was to weak and really strengthened my left hand which lead to very good control with my Driver.  Starting to hit the ball better and better.

Day 252

Worked on new priority piece. Think I figured out a feel/swing thought that gets me in the right position so stuck did a bunch of 9-3 swings with that, then worked up to 75%-speed full swings.

Did a superspeed workout as well.

Day 235 - August 19, 2020

Hit the range for a bit over 45 minutes. Feeling a little bit better. Wish the back of the range was in better shape.

Day 10:  more of the same from yesterday but did a little extra day 2 COVID to work on my torso turn. I am much improved but seem to be stuck and unable to get that little extra improvement that is needed. Still encouraged at my progress. I should be able to be more consistent with the improvements made.

edit: check my swing thread for a new FV.

Day 17:  Playing 18 each of the next 2 days, so just wanted to keep things simple.  Hit a few free and easy shots into the net.  No launch monitor, simple on-course swing thoughts, free and easy tempo.  Did some chipping and putting games/drills.

Day 62.  Twice had a few minutes (at least five minutes each time) in the practice room with my usual routine now -- against the wall a few, then two on the mat, then back to the wall then back to the mat. 6-iron, real balls, off the mat, into the net when a ball was actually hit.

    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • Hence your Avatar!😜 I drink a lot of water during the day if I’m playing or exercising. I get cramps otherwise.
    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
    • This isn't some kind of natural fact. It's a lot more complicated than this implies.
