Good to see Jason Day up there. Uhlein shot a nifty 9 under 62 yesterday, in the second to last group today.

It is Tiger Woods we are talking about. Making cuts & competing? Not exactly, he's made 5 of 6 cuts and competed in 3 of those. The expectations he puts on himself are to do better than 32nd, 23rd, and even 12th place don't you think. He certainly expects to make cuts; he barely made the cut again this week.

How well would i play after years off & surgery? Again, we're talking about Woods, we all know his record. He doesn't make excuses, he plays tournaments to win. He's not happy finishing in 20 something place, 30 something place, or missing cuts. If y'all think he's happy or satisfied with these results you're fooling yourselves.

Something is amiss: including this week Woods has played in 7 tournaments (26 rounds) and only shot in the 60s in 8 of those 26 rounds (30%) with 4 of those 8 rounds being 69. I'm pretty sure Woods' expectation is better than what he is actually getting (which includes +2 (37) on the front 9 today).

Because he doesn't know when he is going to win.

Sure he has. He was very confident the few days before the Masters; "I like my chances" was his quote thru a very toothy grin when asked about winning. Why would he be so confident about winning a major if he didn't think he was back to form?

What else is he to say on the cusp of the Masters? "Guess I may as well tell my pilot to file a flight plan for the Gulfstream for Friday night?"

He is only going to play himself back into competitive form by playing competitions - and he is certainly playing a fair few of those, this season.

What is amiss?  He is making cuts and competing.  Do you think he should be winning every tournament?  He has played how many tournaments since back surgery? How well would you play after taking years off and having back surgery?  Frankly, I am impressed with the way he is playing and holding it together.  Watching him try to get his game back is very interesting to me.  It is always inspiring to see someone overcome long odds and hateful people to achieve glory again.  I am rather keen on understanding the current batch of haters of Tiger woods and to why there is much vitriol spewed his way...

This is the best answer there can be.

  • He took two years almost completely off.
  • He's had multiple back surgeries.
  • He's already had three top-12 finishes.
  • He's contended highly twice.
  • He's 17th in Scoring Average.
  • Hell, he's top 100 in the OWGR despite having his six or so events divided by 40.

Yes, he's making cuts and competing. Nothing about that is false.

He's "competed" in HALF of the events he's played, despite the two-year absence and the surgeries.

This isn't "Tiger Woods we are talking about." It's a very, very different version of Tiger Woods we are talking about.

Whoopty doo?

Nice of you to leave out the T2 and T5 (IIRC), too. He's happy to be playing golf again.

I don't think you know the first thing about what he's happy about or not.

I have it on pretty good authority he's well ahead of schedule and thus quite pleased with his results thus far.

Again… he's 17th in adjusted Scoring Average. He tends to play courses where even par is a decent score, so to judge him for not shooting in the 60s so much is a bit of a false thing. He does not tend to play in the tournaments with courses where people go ridiculously low.

I think that 17th is pretty damn good.

Going back to my original post on the topic 48 hrs ago -  "...his results are meh. Something is amiss".  Nothing about that is false. Finishes of 2nd, 5th, 12th, 23rd, 32nd, and a missed cut = the definition of meh. Add a 55th to that now. I'm really surprised that so many of y'all are happy with what Woods is giving you and happy to make excuses for him.

Woods is not happy with a missed cut (obviously)

Woods is not happy with 55th place (you think?)

Woods is not happy with 32nd place (that sucks)

Woods is not happy with 23rd place (still sucks)

Woods is not happy with 12th place (for pretenders)

Woods is not happy with 5th place (hates it really)

Woods is not happy with 2nd place (if you think he is you are fooling yourself)

What the &^%$ is wrong with you?

It is a PROCESS. He's playing and is hitting it a hell of a lot further than anyone thought he could - and he's shown glimpses of form that mean he may be able to compete at a level many (most) thought they'd never see again

That is what people hope for. Is that bad? Does it upset you?

What is your problem? Seriously.

You think the site is full of Tiger fanboys which is clearly not the case and your moronic avatar is designed to offend a demographic that doesn't even exist here. As we say in Australia, "Wake up to yourself".

A 2nd, a 5th, and a 12th after two years away from the game and multiple surgeries is not 'meh.'

That's what's false.

And not one single person has "made an excuse."

Furthermore, again, I have it on really great authority that he's well ahead of schedule, and thus, happy with how his body is performing.

Nice of you to leave out the 23rd, 32nd, 55th, and missed cut. Taken as a whole Woods' results are meh - Nothing false about that. And everyone who is saying his results are because he's over 40 now and because of his back, etc are making excuses. I'm sorry you can't grasp that simple fact, but they are.

This thread went 'off topic' after i asked if Woods made the cut in the Wells Fargo (on topic) and commented on his meh results (on topic). Several took offense that i referred to Woods results as meh, and there you go, off the rails. I apologize for giving my opinion of Woods performance which ultimately resulted in this thread going off topic.

Nothing actually. I just gave my opinion on Woods' performance, which was honest and spot on. For some reason it really got under peoples skin, you included. I thought this site was a place you could give your honest opinion and then back it up with an explanation. I did just that.

Right. And so did @iacas and others. I think your opinion is asinine and I think Erik’s responses were more accurate regarding Tiger’s performance considering what he’s been through. So, what’s your point? Are you saying you want to state an opinion and be told you’re right?

In other news, congrats to Jason Day, who lost and then regained a 2-strike lead in the closing holes for the win.

And honorable mention to Aaron Wise, who was co-leader with Day for a couple of holes, ending up with a tie 2nd place with Nick Watney.

Oh what complete nonsense. You  subscribe to a golf site and ask "did Tiger make the cut?" and pretend it is an innocent question rather than a disingenuous attempt to annoy people. Were you not capable of looking at the leaderboard on another golf site and finding out for yourself? Of course you were. But you thought you were making some kind of point. Grow up.

True, I would call your posts trolling, not asinine. But you are right, something is amiss, its Tiger 2000 that is amiss.

Tiger 2018/2019 could win on a good day though.

Nobody is discussing the tournament 😧

I was hoping wise could get the debut win, but it was a good performance by Day who closed it out well after some mid round jitters. Mikleson's consistency is incredible this year, up there in almost every tournament he plays

Since you're choosing (hopefully?) to be so dumb about this, "meh" is an opinion, and thus can't be "true" or "false."

I don't share your opinion. Tiger almost certainly doesn't share your opinion.

They're not excuses when they're reasons. When Tiger is ahead of his own schedule.

Dude's happy to be able to play with his children at this point. The golf is gravy, and three top 12s - getting back into the chase - is gravy on top of gravy.

a) His results in other tournaments aren't on topic.

You took it off topic, as trolls do.

In my opinion, you're a troll. That opinion is backed by your recent performances.

    • Day 10: 2/16/2025 Just like yesterday I spent several 5-10 minute sessions working on what I learned on Friday.  My new priority pieces.
    • Day 26 (16 Feb 25) - Basically a repeat of yesterday- only it was a bit more expanded chips/pitches - 7i, 9i, 50° and 58°.   Big exception was I was hitting groups of 5 one club at a time.  Focused on a specific target point - and coming smoothly through the ball, not punchy.  Got it right about 3 out of 5 - more work needed.

    • Things didn’t work out with the cutting horse barn my wife was working for there in Virginia. Their Texas facility we were supposed to move down to ended up delayed for at least an extra year after they’d had us leave Virginia to meet them down there “shortly”. So we ended up getting some land by her family in Missouri and building a house of our own down here instead. Not as many courses, but there is one 5 minutes from the house that’s only $62/mo for both of us to be members at and other nicer ones within a reasonable drive as well.    @Rick_D I’ll try to remember to let you know when I’m heading up that direction. It may happen more frequently in the coming year since a dealer for a business I started recently is based out of St Charles so making deliveries myself might be more economical than shipping.
    • I don’t know why my swing got so vertical there. That wasn’t normal.    What did you mean by point 3? I get the hip turn portion.
