However, as of lately I wanted to experience what a new ball feels like

About 12 years ago I took some lessons where one was a short game lesson and the instructor told me to play the same ball to understand how it would react leading up to and on the green. Like you, I had been playing balls that I found on the course. At the time, being cheap I chose Pinnacle, which I think I could get 15 for less than $20. They are hard as rocks compared to the Titleist Trusoft (and previous versions) that I have been playing for the past 5 years or so.

You can buy boxes of assorted AAA golfballs on Amazon for less than the price a dozen premium balls. Mix of the likes of topflite, Noodle, precept, pinnacle etc.

If you lose balls constantly there is no point spending too much money on balls. If you do a bit of legwork you can find decent deals on bulk buy boxes of balls on line.

Russ, from "sunny" Yorkshire = :-(

In the bag: Driver: Ping G5 , Woods:Dunlop NZ9, 4 Hybrid: Tayormade Burner, 4-SW: Hippo Beast Bi-Metal , Wedges: Wilson 1200, Putter: Cleveland Smartsquare Blade, Ball: AD333

I have looked at amazon but was wary of the quality. If you recommend it I will certainly go back.

??  if you lose a ball every hole, and spend even 2 minutes trying to find it, then you are also likely the guy that finds 4-5 balls on every hole (most in better shape than the one you lost) (as for water - if you have a retriever, you can go to where it went in.  pull out 2 or 3 likely candidates and just ignore the rest and you have replaced the lost one).  This and it wouldn't impact pace of play at all.

You should be flush for years.  And likely full of ProV and Callaways more than anything.

My biggest drop off in finding balls was hitting fairways and greens more often.......

That is how I get most of my balls now. I remember on one hole there was a wooded area to the right of it. Of course I landed near it and saw one ball in the woods. Then another... and another... and another and so on until I came out with 25 of them.

Dicks Sporting Goods have quality balls at low prices. Such as a D2 Feel or Gamer Soft, 2 for 25. You can go even cheaper for Slazenger's. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/slazenger-raw-distance-soft-feel-golf-balls-prior-generation-15slamrwdstnsftgbl/15slamrwdstnsftgbl

Also, if you have a local Academy Sports, they have a mark down section. You can get Wilson 50 elites or Wilson Spins for 10.00 per dozen.

Not a bad deal for 3 dozen

Dick’s has Top-Flite “The Bomb” that come in 18 ball boxes for around $20.00. They are not my favorite ball, but I do like them, and I don’t sweat it when I lose them.

I have been using the D2 Feel, I had a $10 off coupon and got 30 balls for $8. The Feel is a good 2-piece ball which feels good off the putter and has good distance. The spin is not great, but it works for my game and I don't mind if I lose 6 a round.

I have bought both the Srixon Soft Feel and Top Flite “The Bomb” from Dick’s at really good prices. Both balls are good for the price and I don’t feel bad when I dunk one or three in Brea Creek.

Something cheap. At your level it doesn't matter what ball you play. I played lakeballs and some old balls I found on Ebay until I was good enough not to lose 5-10 balls each round.

I am in a similar position and my go to ball is the Slazenger Money Ball.

It plays OK and is consistent, plus it is fun when you get up to the ball and yell "Money!".

Right now they are $20 for 40.

Always remember, the same country that invented golf and called it a game, invented bag pipes and called it music.

If you want a quality ball that feels good, and not hollow like some of the above suggestions, then get the:

Snell GETSUM ball - excellent 2 piece ball and inexpensive. 6 dz/$85 - no taxes or shipping

Distance - yes; a good combo of spin and rollout around greens (but more roll). I've played it.

I agree about the Snell Get Sum. It is a really good ball.

Funny stuff Jack, who knew J. Peterman, David Puddy, and Lloyd Braun all play the same ball.

Carry on my wayward drive

There'll be pars when you are done

Lay your weary wedge to rest

Don't you shank no more

Anyone who claims that a ball has "good distance" or "goes straight", or is "consistent", is talking gibberish. All balls behave pretty much the same way, no matter how the makers try to promote them. Find a ball that you can afford and just play golf.

Obviously, the expensive balls like ProV1 have more spin and might feel nicer off the putter - but the average balls are all the same for all intents and purposes.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

As long as a ball doesn’t feel like a rock coming off the club I am fine with it.

The only ball I definitely could not play was the Cut Red. I bought their sampler pack with a sleeve of each ball Red, White, Grey and Blue. Tried the Red ball in one outing and switched back to one of my regular balls after 2 holes. I immediately noticed an improvement in my shots. The Cut White is decent, and I have yet to try their “premium” balls - Grey and Blue. But I expect them to be fine.

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
