Went to orthopedic doctor yesterday, looks like I have TFCC tear in my left wrist.  My wrist had been hurting for a while, but got really bad on Sunday.  So out of commission fo a little bit, ugh.

I recently was on "injured reserve" myself, so I can sympathize.

Was this a golf injury?

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

Sorry to hear, Jerry. Hope it heals quickly.

@jsgolfer, forgive my asking about my own case, but I have been having pin from the base of my right pinky down to my wrist. Worse when I rotate wrist in or close my pinky toward my wrist. Are these familiar symptoms for you? If so, I will contact my ortho surgeon. Please accept my condolences and wishes for a speedy recovery. Best, -Marv

Two sentiments come to mind right away.  First, get well quick.  Second, don't push too hard, wait until you're properly healed.  Good luck, my friend.

Hey Marv,

That’s not the pain I had, it was right on the left side of the left wrist, right by the ulnar bone, and I did have some tingling in my pinky, but that has gone away.  I’m wearing a WristWidget right now which is helping a lot.

Thank you and yeah, I’m giving it some rest that is for sure.

I'm well aware of this injury. I believe I had it in both wrists. Mine eventually healed although not perfect they are decent. By the time I saw an ortho, he told me that I was at a point where they would consider it a "success." He also told me that often there are "successful" surgeries that don't result as good as I was at that time. @cipher had this surgery I believe and he has documented some of his experience on here as well as a few youtubers that have videos about their surgeries.

I am sorry to hear this Jerry.  My main issue was actually the ECU tear which is a fairly invasive surgery.  They found the TFCC was torn as well while they were operating and they fixed that as well.  It is a much less invasive procedure, so that is the good news.  Best wishes with everything.

    • He said: “Yeah. So tech wise and numbers wise, look, I've had the same concerns, I guess, just from I hadn't obviously played a match,” McIlroy said Tuesday at Pebble Beach Golf Links, where he is preparing for his first PGA Tour event of the season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. “I went in there on Wednesday, and I brought two other launch monitors with me. I brought my GCQuad, I brought my TrackMan. Obviously, hitting balls into the screen and every number was virtually identical. That put my concerns to bed, which was really good. I hit balls in there for 90 minutes.” I wonder, though, if the lights were different, or something like that caused some of the issues. Again, if you tell Tiger it's 100 yards, he's gonna hit it 100 yards, not 130. Even if he's blindfolded.

    • As usual, this is difficult to answer without seeing your swing. So, my first suggestion is to start a My Swing Thread.  After that, my next best guess is that you fade (slice) your driver more than your 3-wood.  I once played with a guy who had such a glancing blow with his driver that I could out drive him with my 6 iron.  Get with a good instructor and learn to hit your driver properly. Even with 93 mph swing speed you should be able to hit your driver 210-230.
    • I recently returned to golf and got a Swing Caddy SC300i. It has confirmed what I have suspected for some time - I hit my 3 wood as far as my driver. This is backed up by similar swing speeds of 93 MPH. I have had 6 months off golf and exercise, so my speed is down a bit on what it was. Driver is 12 degrees, D1, Cobra 70g stiff shaft. 3 wood is 15 degrees, D0, Cleveland Gold 65g stiff shaft. The 3 wood feels great to me and flies straight. The driver feels dead to me and tends to slice. A local pro thinks the shafts are both a little on the soft side of stiff (which suits for me). The only difference I can see is the driver total weight is 340 grams and the 3 wood is 320 grams. My question is what is going on? Surely 20 grams should not slow my driver down to the same swing speed as my 3 wood?
