If Tiger could have putted better early on he'd have a 3 stroke lead.

Rory is coming back into it. Two bogeys and two birdies on the front 9.  Then a couple of bogeys and he was 2 over.  Suddenly 3 birdies in 4 holes and he is 1 under.  Just two off the pace 💣

Bummer.  I was hoping he would make that par putt.

17 and 18 has given Tiger some issues over the years. Didn’t he bogey both of those down the stretch in 05 before the playoff? Could be headed to similar date today. Bad tee shot on 18.

Should have his par though

People will talk about Tiger's putting being the problem today, but I think it was actually his driving that was the bigger issue:

  1. Hook into the bunker at 5 - had to get up and down from 60 yards for par. Missed like a 6 footer for par, but put in that position because of the bad drive.
  2. Hook into the trees at 14 - had to pull out an amazing recovery shot to get to the green.
  3. Slice into the trees at 17 - again missed a short putt, but couldn't do anything better than close to the green from 190 in the trees.
  4. Bunker off the tee on 18 - another amazing shot to get on the green, considering flag is way back.

He missed mid to short range putts at 5, 6, 8, and 17. But also made a putt from that distance at 7. He's below PGA Tour average on those, probably, but PGA Tour average is to make one or two more of those. It's not like he missed tap ins.

-2 after the first day.  Not the best but he's still in the hunt.

Did you guys see that stat about almost all his wins coming after shooting a 70 in day 1?  He's in great shape, really. I mean there are a ton of people within a few strokes.

Don’t see -3 holding. Someone gonna get to -4 or -5 here. Possibly D.J. or Koepka.

Not sure. The wind seems to be picking up a bit. I think the lead is going to be at -3, maybe -4. A lot of people in contention.

    • No rain while I was out (9am to 11:30am). Fairly pleasant for a late November day in the Mitten.
    • Day 56 - 2024-11-25 Did the BAD Challenge and hit a bunch more other little shots. This was one of the closer shots.
    • 70 today. The number looks good but, the course is a par 67 (5,110 yards, 64.3/115.). While the 70 took quite a few good shots to achieve, I am not counting that as shooting my age.
    • Played our town’s executive course this morning. Everything is closing but for now Huron Hills remains open. #13 is shaped like an upside down backwards L (dogleg left). Only 231 yard par 4. Dogleg has a tree guarding the corner and a sand bunker guards the green for those cutting the dogleg. Tiny green. About 10 years ago or more I would try to cut the dogleg. The hole is so short that even if one tangled with the tree or was bunkered, par was likely and birdie was still on the table. Now in my 70’s, I just hit it straight and try to wedge it close for birdie. Today I screwed up and pulled my drive. I wandered around a bit when my ball was not in the bunker. Finally located it on the approach to the green. Almost chipped in and tapped in the 2 inches for birdie. Best unintentional shot of the week. 😲
