We'll get to "who will win" and all that stuff later on. You know, when it's actually 2019.

What I'd like to talk about right now is who is going to the tournament?

I have a specific reason for asking this year, because I'd like to go, and I'd like to take my daughter. PGA members (I am one) get in free, but I'm pretty sure they can't bring a child with them despite the Masters allowing children to attend free with an adult. The rub is that the adult has to have a badge. So, if any TST members are going Monday through Thursday (probably only through Thursday, as I'll want to drive back on Friday), a member I know a bit, who could take @NatalieB in with them… let's talk. Send me a PM or something.

Otherwise, I may just have to leave her back at home, but I really think she'd enjoy it as well. And I'd enjoy it 3x as much getting to experience it with her the first time, together.

I have no clue who might win right now but I know I'm really looking forward to this. 100 days.

I'm still mad @iacas for starting this thread before I could....

I've stopped giving out the monthly awards (nobody seemed to care about them), and it's generally not too fair to give out the yearly ones for the person who starts the topic for the major in which Tiger plays the best… so… :-)

Even Member of the Month? I always thought that one was cool and fun to compete for.

As for the Masters... I got my yearly rejection email. Seriously, whose ass do I have to kiss to get a badge for this stupid tournament? Sigh, maybe 2020....

Yeah, nobody really seemed to care. Sometimes the winner didn't even post in the topic where I announced the winners.

Yearly winners coming out soon here though, for 2018.

I posted them every month for years. Two of the last three winners didn't even respond:

The yearly award winners are here:

Anyway, this isn't the topic for that. This is the topic for discussing the Masters Toonamint.

The 2019 Masters Tournament field stands at 80 players and is likely to stay well below 100 when play starts Thursday, April 11 at Augusta National Golf Club.

Last year’s field of 87 players was the smallest in 21 years. The Masters hasn’t broken 100 since 103 players teed up in 1966. The 2015 Masters field came closest with 98 qualifiers.

Hmmmm. Better chances for Tiger to win, right @colin007!

I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and pony up for a couple of tickets to the tournament. I have been to the practice rounds but never the tournament. I've got the wife about 75% convinced so....we'll see.:hmm:

My bag:

Taylor Made R7 (x-stiff).
Taylor Made Burner 2 irons (stiff)
Cleveland Wedges (gap and 60)
Odyssey two ball putter (white)

Just realized that I will be traveling out to the Grand Canyon the Saturday/Sunday of the Masters.  Not great planning on our part but hard to move our kids' spring break.  Going to have to get my portable battery charger ready.  🙂

Fairways and Greens.

So, @NatalieB will have to wait another year or longer.

I booked a hotel room that I can cancel if I need to at the last minute, so I'm planning to go Monday through Thursday as of right now.

For all the things that work has caused in my life lately, I now know I can take Masters' Fri-Sat-Sun off and focus on watching the golf.  Now I just can't wait :-)

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
    • Day 1: Spent some time hitting some balls. Working on my hips and a “soft” and straight trail arm.
    • Slight digression on the way to my point. Back in the day there were a lot of people who said that Tiger won because of “the Tiger effect” where people pushed too hard and made mistakes trying to catch him and fell by the wayside. I thought that was BS. It was just that he was that much better than them. I don’t think anything has changed my mind on that.    The hype about Miles Russell is very limited. I’ve seen nothing about him outside of some fairly hardcore golf websites. But I think that the reason those people are talking about him is because he is very good. Same as Tiger. And like I said he just broke one of Tiger’s records. That gets hardcore golf fans to pay attention.
