I cut the cord and am struggling thru set-up with my tv futures.  I miss golf channel terrible.  I am trying to understand streaming and options to cable.  I have not searched here yet and hope yall can walk me thru it.  Nothing like those early sunday morning european tourneys or thurs/fri golf on tv.

Options for golf would be buying the PGA Tour subscription.

Other options, YouTube TV or finding streams on the web.

There is a thread on "Cutting the cord" check it out.

We dropped cable a while back. I get tournaments on utube which pretty much covers it for myself. I really haven’t missed the golf channel programming aside from an odd tourney I can’t get which is rare

I get it with the Hulu $40 subscription. It gives the ability to record and watch later from the cloud. Plus I get live TV from the subscription.

I don't watch that much televised golf. However, when I do, I get my fill watching it on You Tube. No commercials, no talking heads, and usually nothing but actual golf shots being shown.

Golf Channel is usually offered as part of the sports package with various services, like Slingtv, YouTube, Hulu, namely, the others are listed in the link posted by @RemyM

What you'd think should be a relatively easy thing to do becomes complicated when you compare the services, you're also considering the channels specific to each package that may appeal to you more. You might also try the trial period if there is one, to see which interface you like better.

Another thing to consider is the recording options, how much space each plan has, etc... I only have experience with Hulu and Slingtv, used them for big events like the Olympics and the World Cup. I think I preferred the Slingtv interface, the price points were about the same. Next time, I'll probably try YouTube whenever the next Olympics or WC comes along, then Sony next.

What I noticed is that with sports, the DVR fills up quickly, 50 hours might seem like a lot, but 4 rounds of golf and poof, that's gone. I did not like the Hulu interface, Slingtv's was better, but I bet both interfaces have gone through changes since I last subscribed.

I know I signed up with Hulu first because I already had it on my devices, downloading another app multiple devices, making another password, signing in, that's a pain, kind of a silly reason to choose a service, but sometimes you just go with what is least work.

Never miss another major golf match! Here's how to watch Golf Channel without cable, bringing every hole in one right to your screen.

It's available on some streaming TV service packages in the $40 to $50 a month range.

Hell! Those aren't buys! I used to get Dish Network basic package for about $40/Mo. and could buy the Golf Channel a la carte for about $4.50 more. Then they decided that wasn't good enough and demanded that I buy their Super Premium package just to be able to get the Golf Channel. I told them to stick it where the sun don't shine. So, they shut the channel off but kept on charging me for it! After much complaining, I finally got a refund.

All was well for a while until, eventually, here comes yet another price increase, and there's a tech upgrade, and they need to send someone to my house, yada, yada, yada! I told them to stuff the whole thing and cut the cord! Why should I pay all that money when I don't watch 99% of the content! It's just stupid!

Been a 'cord cutter' since before cord cutting was cool. 😛 Seriously, we dropped Cable more than a decade ago and installed an long-range HD antenna for OTA and have experimented with different streaming services. Unfortunately, there's still no one out there offering true cafe-style service where you can pick just one service at a time.

We've tried almost every service out there, including DirecTV Now, Hulu Live, YouTube, Sling, and most recently Playstation Vue.

My personal experience is that DTV Now is the worst service. Far too many glitches, things disappearing from the DVR, price hikes, etc. Now I've been on board with DTV Now literally since day #1, so I've got a great package with still a fairly low price (Started out at $35, bumped to $40 last year and is jumping to $50/mo. the next billing cycle in mid-April).

Hulu was fine, but nothing exceptional. Same with Sling for me.

My favorite is PS Vue. Not a huge fan of the guide layout, but it's not a deal breaker for me. The cloud DVR stores recordings up to 28 days before automatically deleting them. We've been running Vue for about 60 days since we discovered that DTV Now would be taking another price hike. So far there have been very few glitches when using with an Apple TV or watching through a web browser.

Then as already mentioned, you can supplement with a $50 annual subscription to PGA Live if you want to just catch some tournament action.

I really don't think there's an "ideal" out there yet, but I think if you take advantage of the free trials, you can find one you like, and using a device that you like (Apple TV, Roku, etc) can help.

    • It’s winter here and time hitting at my indoor place.  This year I bought and sold a few sets so I didn’t settle in on anything. For this coming season, starting now I have a choice to make.  What set would you guys use? 1.  Nike Vapor Pro irons - They are like new, hit them some last year before I had to demo other sets.  I love them, original grips, barely used so I’m almost not wanting to use them to keep their value up.  Standard LLL and standard grips. 2. Taylormade P7TW irons - Still in the box.  Got them over a year ago but had too much to hit, never used them.  Have used a set in the past and loved them.  Ended up with my own set custom fit to me -1/4”, 1 degree flat midsize grips.  These are probably not as valuable because they are still available and they are fit to me. I hate to put the Nikes away but it makes more sense to save them than the TW’s…. I dunno….
    • Day 215 (3 Dec 24) - Another very chilly day - opted to work on easy pitches in the backyard. Worked thru the irons and wedges - focused on foot position and tempo.
