Some interesting names in the field this week, including the likes of Nick Faldo and Tom Watson. Many Masters contenders are in the field, including Jordan Speith, Jim Furyk, and Matt Kuchar.

Is Patrick Reed in the field? I don't know how many top 5 guys are playing this week but he's my pick if he's playing.

Yep, Reed is here. Pretty decent field it seems to me. Spieth. Kuchar. Watson (Tom, not Bubba, lol) Nick Faldo is playing too, which might be fun. I'm here in town visiting my parents, and the island is starting to get crowded. Fewer and fewer tee times at the course iny plantation here in Indigo Run. McDowell hit a ceremonial tee shot with a nearby cannon that gave him a shock after he made contact. Looks set to be a great tournament.  It totally goes against the grain, but some of me thinks that Jordan Spieth will be right in the mix again this week.  That's hard to do after being in the final group at Augusta, but Jordan is just so desperate for his 2nd win that momentum could well get him to the top of the leaderboard come Sunday.  Wind looks to be just as a big a factor this year, as last.

Some nice pairings:

8:10* Kuchar/Els/Mahan

8:20* Snedeker/Haas/McDowell

12:40 Spieth/DLIII/Watson (Tom)

8:40* Ames/Immelman/Faldo

also, it would be awesome to let players take turns in the booth commenting on Faldos play

Players play, tough players win!

Even though the Heritage seems to be an afterthought being right after The Masters, it has always been one of my favorites to watch.

I'm pulling for Kuchar, especially after last week.

Hate the Masters being in the rear-view, but absolutely love watching this tournament........just a great course for TV viewing IMO

The Masters and Hilton Head are my two favorite consecutive weeks on tour.

Mine are the British Open and Canadian Open. Especially when the Canadian Open is in my home town like last year.

I must have missed something: I didn't realize Faldo still played outside of the British Open and an occasional Champions Tour event. Is there something special that's causing him to play this year at Hilton Head?

One of the reason I like the Heritage is that it rewards more accurate ball strikers such as Luke Donald, Zach Johnson, and McDowell who seem to get left behind on the longer courses. I could be wrong, but I think it has one of the lowest GIR averages on tour. Besides, I think that jacket they give out is pretty cool, in an old school kinda of way.

Come'on now, wouldn't you rather get this then a boring green jacket? :-D

It should be a kilt instead.  You know, to honor the origins of the game and such.

IIRC, it also has some of the smallest greens on tour. Part of why some say this course favors the poorer putters :-)

Ahhh, yet another reason I like the Heritage. I'm with Dufner and think putting is the worst part of golf. But maybe that because I suck at it. :-P

    • My two cents? Don't. As a beginner that's interested in learning about the golf swing, you'll find yourself consuming a lot of information, most of which isn't even relevant to your own swing. You need to learn you can't think your way to a good golf swing. Focus on the one thing that you're working on and doing that on every swing, come what may. And remember, mishits happen.
    • Day 6 (7 May 24) - More work in the backyard focused on tempo in addition to setup.  Worked with 6 and 7 irons hitting hard foam balls - used the old MacGregor irons to mix it up a little.
    • No! lol. But they have to be in the right sequence to play mid-handicap golf or little better. Mostly. And even in that there is range/margin for error in the motions and positions that most normal humans can handle. It helps if you have a decent idea of how a golf club moves around the body like you would any other equipment sports (baseball and hockey might be the closest) After all, fairways are 40 yards wide. Don't overthink it. Be diligent in getting basics right. I will concede that it is harder than it sounds but it certainly is not exact angle/exact position/exact degree of bend/exact speed/exact facial expression, etc, every.... single.... time or the result is horrible death.
    • Looking to play in the Severna Park Golf league and it got rained out the first three weeks. I know the course is being renovated so it is not in great shape but the location is easy for me and I would love to meet some other golfers in my area. Anyone here in Maryland Annapolis area?
    • I like to look at the positives.  Overall you are fairly consistent down the center with most shots 20 yards or less off center.  On most fairways that should be in play.  Sure, you had some very short duds, but also if you look there is a good cluster in the 110-125 yard range.  Sure, we would all like to be longer, but knowing your typical shot is more important than trying to hit the 7-Iron 175 Yards.  Just take more club for longer shots and do not worry about it.  Your distances may increase as you improve over time so do not get caught up on that now.
