Lol. In NYC even the guy at the front honks when the light turns green.

I'll add that I have a seething hatred for all you pricks who don't use your turning signals. I mean seriously WTF?

Word of advice ... next time you're going to go on a rant like this, could you please throw in a TL:DR at the end so we don't have to waste so much time reading it? ;)

LOL, seriously.

Can I just brag for a minute here?  I had the chance to drive in NYC last summer for only the second time, and I have to pat myself on the back, because I was ... no other way to say it ... awesome.  Ask anybody in my family ... if we ever move there and I'm hurting for work, assuming there is a driving test, I will get a job for dial7 or a cab service, no sweat!

Now, on to the rants:  My biggest driving peeve is when I am coming up to an intersection without left turn signals, and I'm turning right, and the douche across the way turning left thinks it's OK to go at the exact same time as me.  Eff you!  (Happens all the time at a few certain intersections around here)

Also, Ernest ... LOL at turnING signals.  Never heard it said that way before ... must be a Canadian thing. ;)

EDIT:  Weird that when I quote you, Ernest, it shows an extra line than what your actual post shows to me.

I don't even understand not using a signal. It's just a subconscious habit; I don't even think about it.

What the hell else would you call them? That-a-way lights?

I think it is Florida Law that when a blue hair crosses the State line that when they use a blinker for a lane change they must keep it on until they get to their destination. They are basically telling you where they have been and not where they are going. "Hi, I am from (fill in favorite state or country)."

Turn signals, blinkers, directionals.

Agreed, but it's also annoying when you sit there quietly waiting for the person in front go only to see that they are busy sending a text or e-mail instead of watching the light.

The funny thing is they'll drive for 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) with their freakin' right blinker on then and all of a sudden they'll change to the LEFT lane c4_mad.gif with NO blinker cutting you off in the process. LOL.

Ha Ha, directionals??

Couple weeks ago, I was behind a car at a red light.  The driver in front of me was clearly looking at either a phone or a map (or a map on a phone... technology!).

The light turns green. She's looking down. I honk.

She picks her head up and swivels her head left... right... and... back down.  She studies her phone/map.

I hooooooooonnnnnnkkkkkkk.  I yell things not suitable to print.

She picks her head up again, the tilts it a little bit up and sees a pretty green light and starts to move.

My biggest peeve about turn signals is when someone comes to a dead stop and then puts on their signal.  Don't tell me why you have stopped in the middle of the road, warn me that you're going to stop in the middle of the road.

I never honk my horn, it's not worth it. What drives me nuts is when there is someone in front of me and we are both waiting to turn left and we are both in the intersection they wait until the last second to turn leaving me in the intersection with a red light. Or, people who block the intersection  instead of leaving room to get through to or out of a side street.

Yeah this happened to me yesterday, I was the second car the light turned green and the car ahead didnt move. I assumed she was texting so I waited my usual 3-5 seconds and gave her a quick honk. (That sounds horrible) The lady looked up and waved a sort of "my bad" and we went on our way.

Worst driving pet peeve - people who drive slow in the left lane. GTFO of my way. If you are not passing someone or driving very fast, then why are you in the fast lane. Don't even try to tell me "but I'm going the speed limit"... I don't care. Move over and go the speed limit in the right lane! It is age-old etiquette, and in some states even a law.

OK, I'm going to hijack rathole my own thread.

I was driving in congestion traffic on the expressway @ ~20-30 mph. There's this guy many cars in front of me driving with one hand, cellphone in another, looking very casual, he's got his steering arm out the window, going slower relative to traffic so that there's a huge empty gap (15 cars?) in front of him.

Fine. Whatever. It's about rush hour time, we're all hurrying up to go nowhere.

We come to a full stop because of congestion. It starts up again except for my lane. Guy doesn't move, stays talking on phone. Everyone has to change lane around the guy. I initially thought his car broke down, no, he's talk talk talk. And it's not like his expression shows it's a family emergency or someone died - it looks like a fun conversation face. I look in the rearview mirror about a minute later, ok, he's driving again, but still... fraking.. talking. FRAK!!!

I accidentally use it turning into my driveway half the time, with nobody around me.

I also only tend to use my horn after about ten seconds at a light, or when someone cuts me off and I have to brake and they get the five-second long honk to let them know they seriously ****ed up and could have gotten us killed.*

* Oftentimes I'll see the car, and will drive defensively so they will not actually hit me even if they cut me off, but I figure the five-second honk may help them be more careful in the future, if I can scare the piss out of them this time around.

Two words for horn honking when not really necessary:  BLOOD PRESSURE.

This annoys me as well. What's even MORE annoying is if it's a damn Prius!!!

Another is if I'm in the fast lane going (obviously going above the speed limit) and some fool decides to merge into the same lane in front of me just to get away from another slow vehicle (like a semi or just any other slow car) and paces with the stupid car they just got away from. If you're going to move to get away from a slow vehicle, why are you going the same speed AFTER the merge?!

The failure to use turn/directionals/blinker signals also gripes me.
