If you could carry a 15th club what would it be??

Thread Starter

I seen this on youtube, where they asked a few pro's if they could carry a 15th club in the bag what would it be?

So I'm asking everyone on TST..

If you only carry 14 in the bag.... but could carry 15,  what would it be??  and why??

Well right now in my bag this is what I have

Driver

3 - PW, 52, 56-8, 56-11, 60 wedges

and Putter...

I'd probably put my 3wood back in my bag.....

I carry 5 wedges (LW, SW, GW1, GW2, PW)  in place all the irons.  I will put back 6i (I carry 9, 8, 7, 5, 3 now).   I don't really need 15th club though.

I dunno, a 4th wedge I guess.

Right now I make my best guess whether I leave the 5 wood at home or my 60 degree at home depending on both the course and exactly how I think I'm playing.

On the course I play the most the 60 stays home (no tight lies). On the course where I used to be a member the 60 stayed home (I used the 5 wood to carry tree lines after errant tee shots where my 3 wood wasn't quite high enough).

On courses with very tightly mowed fairways, very fast and/or firm greens with lots of greenside bunkers the 5 wood stays home (unless I'm in a spell where I'm hitting my long irons like crap).

If I could use 15 clubs I wouldn't have to guess...But then I would probably buy a 13 degree fairway wood and STILL have to play the guessing game between the 3 fairway woods. Ha ha!

BTW. I don't use the 60 out of bunkers but do need it for flops over bunkers off of tight lies to fast greens sloping away.

As long a putter as I could find. For measurements. :-D

Left handed iron of some sort.  Maybe an 8-iron.....

Gotta say though, I can get myself into more than enough trouble with 14 clubs.  I don't need another!

Currently I carry 3-pw, 56 and 52 degree, driver, 3-wood and a 2 iron hybrid.  I would probly throw in the 60 degree.

1 iron, for hitting low shots under trees.

I really like my 5-iron AND my 5-hybrid. I almost always carry the 5-iron but if I could carry both I would. The 5-hybrid is great out of the rough.

I carry a Driver, 3W, 3-pw, GW, SW, and LW plus the putter.  I'd add a 5W which I gave up for the 3I.  I added the 3I (a hybrid) because I had trouble hitting the 5W out of the rough.  But I miss it off the fairways.

I guess I would add a 3-hybrid.  Never really hit one before but they seem to be all the rage.

Unless you're carrying 5 wedges, from your signature, it looks like you have room for a hybrid right now.....

I don't even have 14 clubs in my bag, so I can't imagine needing a 15th

You're right.  Honestly until I joined this forum I never knew that much about all the golf rules and even how many clubs I could carry.  The only reason I haven't looked into hybrids is because i've spent my money on other stuff like a new driver and new irons.

I would add a wedge, although right now I only have 13 clubs in my bag so apparently I don't really need it.

D, 3W, 5W, 4i-PW, SW, a 52, and putter.

I really would like to just completely re-do my entire wedge setup.

Maybe a 60, after I fill the gap between 12.5 and 21.

This.  I can't think of any other club that would get much use.

I'm surprised more people haven't mirrored my answer.

I don't need any more clubs. Heck, I could do just fine with 12 (I'd take out the 3I and the 60).
