Should you get the same model of hybrids if you just bought the driver and 3 wood?

I just bought the Ping G30 driver and 3 wood. My hybrids (3 and 4) are pretty old and I want to upgrade them as well. Should I lean towards the G30 hybrids since I will be used to the driver and 3 wood, or does it not matter at all?

I don't think you will be disappointed with anything ping. That being said there isn't any reason you would have to match them with your fairway woods. If your know your yardage with your longest iron and your new 3 wood you should be able to fit any hybrids into your set. Good luck and let us know what you end up with.

I agree with Jake. Hit a few different ones and see what you like best.

IMO Hybrids are very different from woods so I agree with @Jakester23 and suggest you test them and not assume they are the best hybrid for you because you like the woods. I own the Ping G30 SF Tec driver but prefer the Callaway hybrids.

I agree with all that has been said. Nothing wrong with using different brand and nothing wrong with using same brand; main thing is that you like the look and set up and try several. I think it is important to get a shaft that is compatible with what you are trying to do, and a good transition.

The only woods I match are my fairways. Hybrids can be quirky and being the bridge between irons and woods I look for what fills the gaps, what instills confidence looking down and what I don't hook the crap out of. I am getting ready to go back to using a 3 and 4 iron because I can't find a hybrid I can hit the same direction twice. I need to take a hybrid lesson.

The reason that manufacturers brand woods and hybrids in coordination with their drivers is for your convenience for if you want to make a corresponding purchase, but don't want to put any more decision-making into the process. Try as many different clubs as you can. I like the Taylormade R15 driver, but their standard 3 wood doesn't work for me. I preferred their HL version off the deck. I also don't like Taylormade hybrids. Similarly, I love Callaway X2 Hot and XR hybrids, but I think those drivers suck (at least the X2 Hot; the XR is a lot better). I wasn't crazy about the Big Bertha 815 Alpha hybrids, but I adore the Big Bertha 815 Alpha driver. The fairway woods are fine, but I don't like the lack of alignment marker on them.

All that is just to illustrate that just liking one club in a range doesn't mean the other corresponding ones in that range will also suit or please you. Buying clubs is fun. Try em all!

If you can get them all in the same shaft and it is a shaft that you really like, I would say go for it. But you should still try other clubs to see what performs the best for you.

Pretty much in agreement with what's already been said. I've never traded for new driver/fairway woods/hybrids all at the same time (As pricey as this stuff is, I'd have to sell a kidney or something to purchase all of them at once!), so these clubs have never matched in my bag...Although right now they are all Callaway products, the driver and the fairway woods/hybrid are from different lines/year models. When upgrading my clubs I tried different brands, finished with Titleist driver and 3 wood,Ping G25 4 wood and a G30 hybrid, these gave me my best numbers, and 3 month down the track now with them giving me good results on course, agree that need to look at different club options to see what suits yourself.

Taylormade aeroburner driver and 3 wood but Ping G30 hybrid and I would never change it up. Try everything out and tale whats best.
