So yesterday was the 40th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice, Ovechkin scored his 700th goal to become the 8th person in history to reach that milestone, but the biggest story of the night was about a 42 year old zamboni driver:

The NHL will pause the 2019-20 regular season due to the concerns of the coronavirus, the League announced...

They’re probably worried that Brad Marchand will spread it around the league by licking everyone 😜

Yup!

The should just award the cup to the team with the most points now. But Marchand would probably lick the cup too!

I guarantee he wouldn't be the first to do that.

That's a terrible idea.

Besides the idea of Marchand spreading his cooties everywhere, you got historical precedent for not naming a champion. See the 1919 spanish flu situation.

I hope the season can be salvaged.  My team makes the playoffs only every twelve or fifteen years, so you have to grasp the opportunities when they arrive

I’m ok with it. My team isn’t playing for anything other than pride and development at this point.

They’re giving me the option to take the remaining tickets on my partial season plan and apply credit towards tickets for next season, which I elected to do rather than wait to see if I can make it out to the rescheduled games.

Eh, my hockey team is in 1st place and they happened to win the Stanley Cup last June.  I grew up in St. Louis.  And the college basketball team I follow out here on the west coast is ranked #2... so I won't get to follow either through the championships.  That's marginally okay... I still have golf.

My Rangers were not going to win the Cup this year. They really had less than a 50/50 shot at making the playoffs. But they were a really fun group to watch. I was able to see them twice in person in the last month, and I was looking forward to the rest of the season but the next one will be here soon enough.

My old but trusty bag is filled with clubs I built...Integra SoooLong 450 10.5°, Jackaroo II 13* 16* 23*  hybrids, Dynacraft irons and wedges...plus a sweet Tad Moore Peach putter.

It was a very different feel to last nights exhibition games.   I miss the noise the most, but the empty arenas seem somewhat creepy.

Anyhoo, I'm glad the Oilers beat the Flames, even if the goalies had to bail the team out after the let off the gas after the first period.

Was scanning the channels last night and saw Penguins v. Flyers (New). Wondered for a minute and then figured they had screwed up. Didn't realize till this morning that it really was a live game.

Kind of a NHL news desert around here.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
