The course was looking for animals that were tearing up the course. My playing partner that day couldn't find his drive until we looked a little closer…….Β  Of course we had go give him a hard time about playing it where it lies...….Β  LOL

Yep! Not blue herons! We have tons around here, including several big rookeries where they nest! They really don't make much noise except when they squawk. A very guttural, raspy sound!Β

EDIT:Β  It looks like some have black on the top of the head, just based upon an image search.

I wish I had pictures of some things I've seen... One course, now closed, had foxes, hawks and an incredible assortment of fish in the lakes. Living in Miami, I've seen gators in a few ponds and a wonderful selection of colorful birds. Up in Temple Terrace, Florida one time, there were some Bald Eagle nests and quite of few of them watching us play. When i lived in Jamaica, there was a surprising total lack of wildlife, other than small lizards.

All of that aside though, THIS was the strangest wildlife I've seen on a golf course.20190722_115059.thumb.jpg.51e392e2f89b35d4e7bbe366ee6ce28f.jpg

I've had a good day if I don't fall out of the cart...

Uh, just so you know, the eagle on the left is a mature Bald Eagle! Thus the white head and neck! The one on the right has not yet reached sexual maturity, thus the coloration.Β

Close, but not quite. Β If it were fully mature, the tail feathers would’ve also been white. Β They’re not. Β It was very noticeable when they flew off. Β Also, though a little tough to tell in the pic, the beak is not yet fully yellow. Β Probably about 4 years old...
