Easy, I will take the wind with money on the line.  The wind impacts both equally so does not favor one over the other and I hate when the bugs bite my ankles and swarm in my face.  I typically spray a deterrent on the inside brim of my hat which helps but is not perfect.  I also hate the smell and really fo not like the idea of spraying too many chemicals on my skin.

Well my first response would be neither, but that wouldn't fit this thread. Probably rather the wind, but 30 mph is pretty severe.

You know, I've worn a face mask for a year-and-a-half now. I would have no qualms about wearing a mosquito mask and lathering up the arms with insect repellent. Bring on the bugs.

Around here, did not know any other way (than the bugs).  All one has to do is play that ready golf - don't stand still too long !  Now the sweat runnin down into the eyes while putting is a whole different story...

Having experience both, I'll opt for #1 -- play in gusty winds!  Trying to putt with mosquitoes buzzing your face is torturous!

Growing up in MI I am used to the wind, I actually like playing in difficult wind conditions, I like the challenge, I like creating shots to beat the wind. For my golf game there is nothing more satisfying than doing things like hitting a well executed 115 yard knockdown 7 iron into the teeth of a full gale off one of the big lakes, Or hitting a 300 yard 3 wood downwind because the tailwind will knock a low spin driver shot right out of the air.

Having played greens this summer that ranged from mostly dirt/sand with some grass thrown in for good measure to greens so fast I was almost certain to have a 5-10 footer coming back if I missed the cup, I thought this may be a good "Would You Rather" topic given that the course conditions are optimal for a semi-private course:

#40 Would You Rather...

1) Putt on greens that are fast (say 11-12 on the stimpmeter) but relatively flat and somewhat predictable, the major punishment being it will roll forever if you miss the hole.  

OR

2) Putt on greens that are average (say 8-9 on the stimpmeter) but have great undulations, shelves that make you have to really think about how the ball will need to roll.

Can we make #2 fast? Undulations and greens promoting creativity are great, but so are fast and true. Flat is boring so I will go with #2.

1. No greens are really flat because they won’t drain. Putting on fast greens is fun too.

I would rather take #1.  On the slower greens I would mess up by leaving a lot of putts from the lower tier to the upper tier short. I like faster greens.

I like greens that have slopes and undulations as long as the green speeds match well with the slopes and the holes are located in appropriate locations.  Mostly flat greens are fairly uninteresting, even if they are very slick.  So I will vote for #2.  We just finished playing a very nice course in northern Indiana that had one serious flaw; many of the greens had too much slope for the speed of the greens.  No one wants fuzzy greens but at the same time, hitting a putt two inches and having it roll off the front of the green isn't fun either.
