“I’m hoping that in the near future I can be back playing some of those events. I would certainly love to go back and play some of them. If there’s ever a way back and a way where we can play, even if it’s as an invite, I will take it. There’s certain events that are special to me that I would still love to support. For everybody who said this would be easy, some things have been, but not being able to defend some titles that mean a lot to me hasn't. I love Palm Springs. I've been able to win twice there. Riviera is about as charismatic of a golf course as we have. Not being there was difficult.

I still watch golf because I love watching it, but it's hard. It was hard not to be at the Phoenix Open at the end of February, and it was hard not to be at Hawaii."

It appears that there is some regret there. And also, an appeal to have his cake and eat it too. He is the one guy I miss but, too bad Jon.

Famous study, now 14 years old, comparing amount someone makes and happiness. It's a pretty low number, something like $75K (2010) was the start of the plateau. Adjust for inflation, that is now $106K-ish.

Money = Ease of Mind

Happiness = Self-worth, values, goals, family, friends, etc. A lot of stuff money can't buy.

Not to disagree, but just think of all the golf trips tonight's Mega Millions winner could do.  That's gotta move the needle on happiness at least a little.

I get that, too much of something will lead to getting bored of it.

There is a reason why I don't go to this steak place every week and keep it to like 3-4x a year. 😉. I like the anticipation and the, "Yea, that is how I remember it" 😛

It felt like a bbq at a city park on Memorial Day weekend. Music and people doing their thing, and oh yeah there some guys playing golf. Cant escape the club music. Not seeing Paulina Gretzky.

AK looked like some guy hanging out at the gas station in Hialeah. There was a good crowd but just the vibe of the place was not anything special.

I wonder if the slowdown at the Valero due to Spieth’s nonsense on 18 got some people to switch over? There was about 15 minutes there where there was no golf.

I would attend for free. I tried to go the event in Mayakoba a couple years ago but couldn’t get a free ticket. The logistics of getting there then made it not worth it.

I turned it on flipping through channels trying to find the PGA Tour event for background noise, saw what Sergio was wearing, saw Rahm in 8th missing a 15-footer, and then saw a Uihlein chip-in or something perhaps, and… it was just really gaudy. The leaderboard, the outfits… everything.

I wouldn't bet on it.

But maybe he figures his competitive career is over given his recent results, so… 😉

The current buzz his might switch caddies. A possible call to Stevie Williams maybe? He hasn't won a major with Diamond on the bag, maybe a call to JP to come back? He's got to do something or Greg might up the ante. Could you imagine Chamblee the day that happened?

I really like seeing more big names signed by liv. What I like most about liv is that they have a philosophy that players and caddies all get paid for their time in the game.

They paid the caddies the first year but haven't since. That's on the players again.

Also, nobody else seems to want to see big names… because they're out of sight, out of mind until they come back and play in a major. If they're qualified for it.

PGAT is all about Scottie right now and rightfully so. The PGAT has it's star right now and some potential good guys hoping Scottie takes some time off.  The LIV guys are of the radar until the PGA. There will be the Rory/ Hovland rumors to keep the fire smoldering until then.

You will probably get your wish as time moves on. What I like most about LIV is they are funded by a regime that has numerous human rights violations and the players don't seem to care. The fans certainly don't seem to mind. I admit, I went to LIV Miami to check it out, it wasn't empty.  I didn't see anyone protesting.

"Golf is often called a gentleman's game because of its emphasis on etiquette, sportsmanship, and respect for fellow players and the course. Golfers are expected to adhere to a code of conduct that includes honesty, integrity, and consideration for others on the course."

it amazes me for the right number, how quickly people will forget human rights violations, compromise their integrity and virtues all in the name of "growing the sport" (which we know not to be true)

    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
    • I don't think you can snag lpga.golf without the actual LPGA having a reasonable claim to it. You can find a ton of articles of things like this, but basically: 5 Domain Name Battles of the Early Web At the dawn of the world wide web, early adopters were scooping up domain names like crazy. Which led to quite a few battles over everything from MTV.com You could buy it, though, and hope the LPGA will give you a thousand bucks for it, or tickets to an event, or something like that. It'd certainly be cheaper than suing you to get it back, even though they'd likely win. As for whether women and golfers can learn that ".golf" is a valid domain, I think that's up to you knowing your audience. My daughter has natalie.golf and I have erik.golf.
