Not many 7 minute videos are worth watching.  This one was excellent in that it clears up a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding, in a very concise way. Without preaching.

It's been mentioned many many times, precautions are not just about the individual, they are about respecting all people.  For those of you who are proponents of the vaccine, and have gotten or are getting the vaccine, are you of similar mind about the flu vaccine. I get the flu vaccine as well, yearly. How about you?

The flu vaccines look like a piece of junk alongside the Covid vaccines, with an efficacy rate of 35-45%?  But yes, I get a shot every year... there is still some protection and if you do come down with the flu it is less severe.

Quite likely the most used word this last year is "Covid".  Why hasn't "word correction" caught up with that yet?  It still puts a wiggly red line under that word every time I type it.

I have been getting the flue vaccine for the past 5 years and intend to continue.  I believe Shingles is not contagious  but I also plan to get the Shingles vaccine this year which 2 shots and no need to repeat annually.

Haven't had a flu shot  in years. not opposed to it, just never got around to it.
More concerned about wife and kids.
Of course I get my second shot on 3/30 and every work meeting possible has been scheduled for the next day. Assuring that I am going to work regardless of any side effects!

Good for you.

I personally get a flu shot every year. I think it works, I haven't take a work "Sick Day" since the early 90's. (And no, I'm not one of those idiots who goes into the office coughing and sneezing all over everyone.) I simply just don't get sick.

Anyway, I get my second shot on April 5th. I too, have every work meeting in the world scheduled for the 6th. So, we shall see.

Bear in mind that the flu vaccine is not specific to one flu strain. They are trying to encompass several varieties including predicting which one are more likely to be in our country. So the efficacy will be down compared to the COVID-19 vaccine, which is more specific.

that was me prior to 2018.   I never get sick.   In 2018 and 2019 I came down with pneumonia.   I get the shot now.

Yes.  In 2020, I also started giving blood regularly (I had tried when I first turned 18, and again a few times thereafter, but it kept getting rejected.  I didn't try again until last January, and since it got accepted, I've given several times since then.  I have AB+ blood, so I'm told that's a useful one to donate, I don't really know how that works).

yes, good point! I get the flu shot every year, I think it helps, even when you do catch the flu it is much less severe.

I'd love to be in SoCal on that day (Torrey Pines?  Rancho Park?), if the cold, windy, rainy weather here doesn't improve.  But sunny, warm days are due very soon...

Thank you for the invite.
