It depends. I held a party with friends with no masks. But we required a negative test beforehand.

Anyway, mask mandates seem to be lifting across the country.

I disagree with ending the mask mandates for indoors, although pandemic fatigue is hitting a lot of the people who have taken this very seriously.   I think California is doing the right thing by looking ahead to when this will be endemic.  Unfortunately I think we've proven that a significant portion of the population is not going to do the right thing, so at some point we need to move to the next phase.  I don't think it's time yet, but my presidential campaign is getting little traction, so I doubt I'll be making any decisions for anyone else, anytime soon.

For now, my mask stays on and I am avoiding places I don't feel comfortable.  I too would go to a party with friends and no masks under those conditions or if everyone was vaccinated.   The charts for hospitalization/death based on vaccinated status would be hilarious if it didn't mean so many people died.   The vaccinated line is close to zero and flat.

Many people don't practice what they preach. But, in this case and in my opinion, your mask wearing benefits you - not them - so who cares what they do.

I would honestly settle for everyone washing their hands after they wipe their ass.

According to what I see every time I use an airport restroom, that percentage is pretty low. Think about that next time you shake somebody's hand. BlankSaltyBeauceron-size_restricted.gif.6dc74ddf38f4113a7494cbc63fdc0aac.gif

Interesting that Italy is the lowest on the first graph.  They were a very sad hotbed of Covid early on.  My state is rolling back mask mandates tomorrow.  I will still be wearing a mask in select situations.  And I will continue social distancing and washing the ol' hands.  There are certain people I know who remain unvaccinated and I still won't be getting within 10 feet of them.  Why take stupid chances around stupid people.

More than 100 Florida ZIP codes report more than 100% of their residents are vaccinated. DeSantis and health officials don't plan to investigate this.

Florida, man.

I think this really shows what happens when you elect bad leadership.  With Covid it's going to be bad almost everywhere at some point.   State leadership that has taken this very seriously have still seen spikes and bad times, but Florida is just insane.   Makes me believe that all the Carl Hassan stories I've ready are actually based on 100% true events.

Oh, I don't know. I live in Florida, lived through Covid after contracting it. And I see a TON of people from other States here on our course doing just fine. I'm at the clubhouse, on the course and in the Pro-shop four to five times a week and I get to talk with all sorts of our visitors and guests from the Northeast, out West, Great Britain, Canada, Australia ..... you name it. And they all think that where they come from is "insane". They love Florida and they love coming here.

Florida isn't "insane" and neither is our State leadership. What's insane is continuing to destroy the economy with these asinine lock-downs and mandatory masking that even so-called leaders aren't abiding by anymore.

We're doing just fine down here in Florida. I lived through Covid, it was a joke and nothing more than a mild case of the flu. I live in a retirement community (55+) in the last two years, our community hasn't lost one person to "Covid".

It's way past time to live your lives. Spring is coming, Summer is almost here. Get outside and live your lives.

I got my 4th stab yesterday. My nanobots are now so magnetic that I have trouble walking through a parking lot!

@Frank FI'm glad you're doing so well. Unfortunately, as you may be aware, over 900,000 have died from Covid in the US alone. None of them are doing well.

Frank, you take it too lightly.  We had a state senator who was an anti-vaxxer, at age 52.  He's dead.  We had a state trooper who told our governor to "Kiss his ass."  He was an anti-vaxxer who wouldn't get the mandated vaccination.  Age 50.  He's dead.

My friend, you are/were playing with fire.

My response was directed at those so very critical of Florida, my home State. Plenty of criticism born of media hype.

I don't believe in nanobots or magnetic chips or other conspiracy theories. I also don't believe that locking ourselves away, masking to oblivion or getting 37 booster shots is the answer either. Guess getting booster jabs keep people from getting Covid too. Because there are plenty of people who are "vaxxed to the max" that are continuing to get Covid and pass it on to others.

I'm not bankrolling big pharma. But, I am very happy for you that you find security in receiving booster shots. Your body, your choice.

Thanks for the concern. Had Covid in November of 2020. I still have the anti-bodies as of six months ago. I'm not anti-vax. My shot record is up to date. I do believe in the human immune system and so does my Doctor.

Frank, Florida has acquitted itself very poorly. That’s virtually a fact.

Move on. Your personal experience is not relevant, really. And vaccines use “the human immune system” too.

My personal experience isn't relative? Lol! What a joke. Here comes "cancel culture".  Now your gaslighting me for giving my own personal opinion based on living my own life here in Florida while you sit in PA. Priceless.

If Florida is so bad, why are politicians like AOC and Michigan's Governor Whitmer safe to come here. Because they're hypocrites.

How would that go over here if I wrote disparaging things about your home State of PA? It's not a virtual fact unless you can provide some hard data to back it up. Follow the science instead of following political science. There is no need for a vaccine in an immune system that is showing antibodies. But, I guess you're a doctor as well as a "golf pro"?

My primary care physician knows quite a bit more than you do. But hey, this is your kingdom and anyone who disagrees with the ruler gets the boot.

Enjoy your new clothes your nakedness.

I'm out.

Frank, your personal experience is a mere one in 22 million.  You seem to want to make it be universal. Your "follow the science"  line cracked me up, because you did not. You did the ol' pick and choose.  You were/are (are because the subvariant BA.2 might be coming back around) a layperson who got lucky.  How's your golf these days?

    • Day 2 (10 Mar 26) - Worked on weight shift feel using slap stick drill (hands about 6” apart - coming back weight on trail foot - down - thru weight on lead foot….moved it to hitting chips w/9i playing what I call “leap frog” - hit 1st about 10yds, the next a couple past the 1st, for about 6 balls total.  Love it as the lies change, the distances vary making each swing slightly different.
    • The first post is here:   Do you have an overly long backswing that ruins sequencing and leads to poor shots? In nearly 20 years of teaching, I've found 5 common faults. You don't have to swing like Jon Rahm, but a shorter swing will probably help you #PlayBetter golf. Which is your fatal flaw? #1 - Trail Elbow Bend Average golfers ♥️ bending their trail elbows. It can feel powerful! Tour players bend their trail elbows MUCH less. A wider trail elbow creates a longer hand path and preserves structure. It also forces more chest turn; not everything longer is bad! Overly bending your trail elbow can wreak havoc on your swing. It pulls your arms across/beside your body. It requires more time to get the elbow bend "out," ruining your sequencing. The lead arm often bends and low point control is destroyed. The misconception is that it will create more speed, but that's often the opposite of what happens. Golfers often feel they swing "easier" but FASTER with wider trail elbows. Want to play better golf with a shorter backswing? Don't bend your elbow so much. #2 - Hip (Pelvis) Turn I see this all the time: a golfer's hips are only 5-10° open at impact, but he turns them back 60°+ in the backswing. Unless your father is The Flash, your hips are probably not getting 40° open at impact from there! That's more rotation than Rory! Golfers who over-rotate their pelvis often over-turn everything - trail thigh/knee, chest/shoulders, etc. They have more work to do in the same ~0.3 seconds as a Tour player who turns back ~40° and turns through to impact 40° or so. Want to shorten the pelvis turn a bit? Learn to internally rotate into the trail hip, externally rotate away from the lead hip, and do "less" with your knees (extending and flexing) in the backswing. Learn some separation between chest and pelvis. #3 - Rolled Inside and Lifted Up Amateurs love to send the club (and their arms) around them. You see the red golfer here all the time at your local range. The problem? Your arms mostly take the club UP, not around. Going around creates no height until you have to hoist the club up in the air because you're halfway through your backswing and the club is waist high and three feet behind your butt! 😄  Learn to use your arms properly. Arms = up/down, body = around. Most golfers learn how little their arms really have to do in the backswing. The picture here is all you've gotta do (but maybe with a properly sized club!). #4 - Wide Takeaway Width is good, no? Yes, if you're wide at the right time and in the right spots. Golfers seeking width often don't hinge the club much early in the backswing… forcing them to hinge it late. Hinging the club late puts a lot of momentum into the club, wrists, and elbow just before we need to make a hairpin turn in transition and go the other direction at the start of the downswing. When you're driving into a hairpin curve, you go into it slowly and accelerate out of it. Waiting to hinge is like coasting down the straightaway and accelerating into the hairpin. Your car ends up off the road, and your golf ball off the course. Give hinging at a faster rate (earlier) then coasting to the top a try. You'll be able to accelerate out of the hairpin without the momentum of the arms and club pulling in the wrong direction.   #5 - Sway and Tilt Some sway is good but sometimes I see a golfer who just… keeps… swaying… Their chest leans forward a bit for balance, resulting in a whole lotta lean. The green line below is the GEARS "virtual spine." Pros sway a bit, but stay ~90°. This sway often combines with the extra pelvis turn because this golfer is not putting ANY limits on what the "middle of them" (their pelvis) is doing in the backswing. These golfers spend a lot of energy just to get back to neutral! The best players begin pushing forward EARLY in the backswing. Often before the club gets much past their trail foot! Pushing forward (softly) first stops your backward sway and then begins to get your body moving toward the target. Push softly, but early!
    • I  no longer spend the time and effort trying to sell something I no longer need. Instead, if the clubs are in good condition, I go to my local golf shop or even Dicks Sporting Goods. Trade the clubs in for store credit and pick up something I need, like a hat. Cause you always need another golf hat!
