Hit my high of 115 today. Feeling like I turn back really far until I can’t anymore has helped my speeds. I tried some swings today where I felt like I was pulling down on the grip in transition, but it didn’t seem to work for me. Probably not doing the move right, especially when trying to do it in a max effort swing.

Hit balls today...got to 114 and 112 but the mean was around 109.  Both are up 2+ MPH from last week.  Probably going to hit some more tomorrow (high of 57) and not  over-swing and see how it goes.  Also might try and get on a trackman next week to compare numbers to another source.

Did my SuperSpeed at the range today. Hit 105, 104, 104, 101, 95 for my final blue swings. Hit 96, 95 and 95 with the driver. I had some weird readings with the radar where I would get a high 90s or 100 mph swing and the next would be 70. Not sure why as I was swinging in the same area.

Maybe the batteries are low. Or the sun came out from or went behind some clouds?  ... just guessing.

I just changed the batteries. I will double check them.

I get a handful of strange numbers with my radar device too (the blue/greyish sports sensor swing speed radar). I just ignore the obviously bad data. The other day I used the Mevo and SSR simultaneously, and they were pretty close for the most part but occasionally the SSR would be off by 8-10 MPH (both high and low) compared to the Mevo. I treat the Mevo as my reference because I know what I see on Mevo is more or less aligned with GC4 data from my lessons. Certainly would be nice if Flightscope could update firmware to measure swing speed independent of hitting a ball.

I wish I new the range and focal point of the SSR. They say 10”, but the radar has to be aimed from the device. I would guess it is a cone that projects from the center and is perpendicular to the face. So when tilted back, the detection zone must be there. Some of the training videos show it farther away than 10 inches.

Hit a new max speed today with the blue of 127. Was quite surprised by that because my lower back and legs were pretty stiff and tight from a workout yesterday.

Extra snapping power!

My five readings today were: 132, 133, 133, 133, 134. In that order. Weird.

Felt slow today, but was actually pretty good - 126, 127, 127, 128, 133 MPH. Moving on to protocol 3 next week.

Not sure if this morning was a break-through or a one-off.

I swung 114, 116, 123, 119, 114.

My previous best had been 117.

I went out and played 9 holes yesterday. 32 and sunny, not too bad, but definitely needed the handwarmers. My tee shots were pretty nice, 4 of 6 over 250 and max of 280 with driver. Hooked one into the trees and sliced one about 230. May have been getting some extra with the bounces and roll out, since the ground was still frozen underneath. Anyway, my swing felt strong and I think being on this protocol has helped.

My speeds are back up today after a dip. I had a video lesson and found out the drop of was a result of my setup getting worse. Now that I’m not stretching for the ball speeds are back to previous levels. Time to kick on 😃

Looking like @Daveje97 and @phillyk and @georgep need to get back on the horse, at least as far as updating the spreadsheet goes.

I lost my sticks and I have absolutely no idea how.  It’s maddening. But, I ordered a new set and will pick this up when I have them.

So I had some time at our indoor facility and Trackman.  I put the Swingspeed radar down to compare it next to Trackman to see what the difference in numbers were.  Had some interesting (and strange) results.

First I hit some 7 irons to warm up.  On trackman I averaged about 85 MPH but the Swingspeed was registering around 78/79...so it was consistently lower.

When I hit driver I was averaging around 102ish on Trackman but the Swingspeed radar was consistently around 110 or even higher.  I hit 105 on Trackman but topped out at 115 on Swingspeed.  I'd say that Swingspeed was averaging a little under 10 MPH higher with the driver but it was 6 MPH lower with the 7 iron.

Has anyone else seen results like this?  I was left slightly confused.  When I've done fittings in the past and been on Trackman I was normally in the 100ish range so my swingspeed is definitely up a little bit but not as much as I thought it would be.

Fairways and Greens.

    • Day 6 (7 May 24) - More work in the backyard focused on tempo in addition to setup.  Worked with 6 and 7 irons hitting hard foam balls - used the old MacGregor irons to mix it up a little.
    • No! lol. But they have to be in the right sequence to play mid-handicap golf or little better. Mostly. And even in that there is range/margin for error in the motions and positions that most normal humans can handle. It helps if you have a decent idea of how a golf club moves around the body like you would any other equipment sports (baseball and hockey might be the closest) After all, fairways are 40 yards wide. Don't overthink it. Be diligent in getting basics right. I will concede that it is harder than it sounds but it certainly is not exact angle/exact position/exact degree of bend/exact speed/exact facial expression, etc, every.... single.... time or the result is horrible death.
    • Looking to play in the Severna Park Golf league and it got rained out the first three weeks. I know the course is being renovated so it is not in great shape but the location is easy for me and I would love to meet some other golfers in my area. Anyone here in Maryland Annapolis area?
    • I like to look at the positives.  Overall you are fairly consistent down the center with most shots 20 yards or less off center.  On most fairways that should be in play.  Sure, you had some very short duds, but also if you look there is a good cluster in the 110-125 yard range.  Sure, we would all like to be longer, but knowing your typical shot is more important than trying to hit the 7-Iron 175 Yards.  Just take more club for longer shots and do not worry about it.  Your distances may increase as you improve over time so do not get caught up on that now.
    • Day 552, May 7, 2024 Played nine holes with @NatalieB with irons only from her tees. Didn't really finish out any holes, just hit the irons and approaches and some chips.
