Summertime can be brutal on the skin, especially facial areas. I finally broke down and purchased a couple summer hats to play golf in to keep the sun off my head and out of my eyes. It is sort of strange, any hat besides the common golf hat just doesn't seem to be accepted well, or imo, look like it fits in well. Although, I got to the point where I don't care as much how it looks as much as I care about keeping the sun off my vulnerable areas and out of my eyes. The bucket shown below is a bit hot for the summer, but is great for early and late summer days to keep the sun out of my eyes. I feel a bit of a standout with it on but oh well. The hat below the bucket is an Aussie Breezer Light hat for the middle of the summer, as it is not as hot as the bucket but keeps the sun off my face/neck areas very well. I am wondering what others do for a hat in the summertime?

I have this Tilley. The LTM5 has a slightly less wide brim than the 6. They also have a gold specific hat too. Very well made.

Can't decide on a style? This is our best-selling AIRFLO® Hat so we figure we must be onto something.

This is the hat I purchased to go along with my two others. Main reason I purchased this one is that it fold up nicely and can be stored in a side pocket of my golf bag. Check out the video online:

I like hates that are not adjustable, and that are deeper. I just wear a normal hat.

I have a few UA hats and like them.

No question, 'baseball style' golf hats look the best,  but are not very good at blocking out the sun from the face/neck area. I suppose those who have had bouts of skin cancer don't give to much concern about appearance compared to sun blockage.

Or, here’s a thought.  Sunblock.  🙂

I use a Coolibar Matchplay hat. It looks terrible, but full coverage.

I usually get a lifeguard-style hat. I'll use a baseball-style hat on windy days.

Yes, great idea! I do use sunblock all the time , but I sure hate slopping it on getting it on your hands and sometimes in your eyes. I still use it all the time and will even though I have a larger hat on, but a hat also keeps the Sun off your skin to keep your cooler as well. It's like hiding under an umbrella in the midday Sun.

Spray sunblock.  SPF 50 stays in my bag.

No muss, no fuss.

You’re supposed to. The spray doesn’t cover 100%.

This is what I used this last summer, and it does a nice job blocking the sun, but I still get burnt a bit, and also the sun's heat takes it's comfort toll as well. A large brim hat helps keep you cool and the sun out of your eyes. The combo of sun block and large brim hat work the best. What I find amazing is that more PGA golfers don't wear large brimmed hats, maybe because they are younger and feel invincible? Nothing like skin cancer to quickly change one's mind.

Maybe Jim Colbert made everyone realize how ridiculous you can look wearing one...?  😁

I don't see him as looking ridiculous, but I suppose many do. The word 'vanity' comes to mind.
