This time of year sucks for actual golf where I live. It can be a good time to get some practice in and/or replenish your supplies. Of course this time of year is when most of the big manufacturers are releasing their latest and greatest.

I'm not really in the market for anything new this year.

I am interested in testing the new Mizuno ES21 Wedges. I won't be buying any.... especially not at $200 per wedge. But they look like an interesting concept to me. Are there any new clubs coming out this year you are looking forward to testing and/or buying?

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Pretty much everything in my bag has been purchased second hand. The only thing I did this winter was get Project X Hzrdus Smoke Black shafts for my woods and hybrids. I have the 5.5 60g in my driver and got the 70g for my woods and 80g for the hybrid. I like the ball flight and control in the driver and wanted a similar feel in the other clubs.

But, if I ever get a fitting in Western, PA, a new set of Edel Wedges would be nice. I just need the ‘Rona to calm down so I can road trip.

Everything that's new in my bag has been purchased either used or on clearance.  So far the only thing that hasn't been replaced is my irons.  Depending upon how my off-season training goes and how intensely I find myself playing this-coming season, I may upgrade my irons.

Being as I take a +1" to +1-1/4" club (current clubs are +1"), I'll be buying irons new.  Given the expense: I will be getting fitted if I do.

Right now I'm currently looking at Srixon ZX5, Cobra RADSPEED, and Callaway Apex DCB.

I'm getting new irons this year.

I'm not a brand loyalist, but I am really interested in the Srixon ZX5/ZX7 line, and thinking about a combo set. I'll be trying a bunch of different brands/models next week in my lesson as well as some different shaft options. I'm also looking at the Mizuno JPX 921 line, Cobra and TaylorMade offerings, and some previous generation PXG (since the current gen is way over my budget).

My teacher is probably biased toward the brands carried in their facility, but she is particularly high on Srixon and PXG (both carried at the facility).

I am considering replacing my wedges but I haven't got a clue what will be released this year.

My wedges are the only part of my bag that I haven't been custom fit for so I wanted to go and see if there is a tangible difference with my current wedges.

But if Titleist/TaylorMade/Callaway/Cleveland/Mizuno/Ping etc. will be replacing their current wedges with new clubs then I will probably wait.

Anyone know ?

Most companies will release new wedges every year in the fall. I suggest going to a shop and hitting them to get a feel of what you like. Check their websites too.

Now that I just bought the Titleist T200 irons and just picked up the Tsi2 Driver and 3 Wood, only decision is if to get new Edel wedges, since the current two I’ve had for about 4 years.

Hoping to do a driver fit this summer as a birthday gift to myself. I'm really keen on the Titleist TSi series and Cobra seems to be keeping up with the big boys at a bit of a discount, but I'll ultimately just go with whatever performs best.

    • the rules have changed, but this would fall under 11.2 in the current rules.  General Penalty to any player who deliberately deflects a ball in motion, and you must replay the putt.
    • Day 250 4-29 Getting chest through with speed on downswing and wrist arch. Also worked on some moving the pelvis slightly away in the backswing. Feel like im going too fast and long, looks like it on the recordings too.
    • Interesting that it's no penalty, but then again, I can't imagine someone would purposefully put their foot out there in this situation or one like it.  And then there was the time someone purposefully deflected his own ball during a major, but that's very different too. The only time I can recall a ball I hit hitting another player or their equipment was ages ago -- over a decade and a half ago.  I had a 3' putt for an 89 and someone (a random pairing, not someone I knew) decided it was a good time for goaltending practice.  That wouldn't fall under this rule, though (and it wasn't in a tournament anyway). Thanks for continuing to share these, Dave!  I always find these interesting.
    • Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.
    • Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
