Sincerely hoping he's OK.

The photos of the car might be deceptive. He was driving what is, to all intents and purposes, a Hyundai Santa Fe. The strength is in the internal cage, if you will, that protects the occupants - the "safety cell" like most modern cars. But the panels on those cars are flimsy and thin - I know, I rented one, leaned against the wing and heard and felt it flex and bend inwards and was grateful it popped back into shape, and I'm not an especially big guy. If you look at the wreck the passenger cabin seems intact, even if it had to be cut open to remove him. In other words, modern cars are remarkable when it comes to safety, and hopefully this one did its job. I sincerely hope his injuries are not too bad.

Wishing and hoping the best for Tiger as well. Great to hear it's not life-threatening.

Pretty surreal considering the entirety of the internet was memeing hard Sunday/Monday with his appearance while he was on air with Nantz Sunday.

Maybe I am seeing the wrong interview, but I do not sense anything "Wrong" with Tiger in this interview.  Am I missing something?

He seemed fine to me, too.  As a fellow degenerative back issue sufferer, I can understand how Tiger could not commit to The Masters.  He has to see the medical results, his MD's direction, and then can he hit it.  Too soon for him to know.  Unless someone has had real neuro pain like Tiger, you have no clue.

See what @Zeph said, and also let me quote from Wikipedia…

"Genesis models are designed in Rüsselsheim (Germany)…"

I thought he looked fine. He wasn't optimistic, but he looked fine to me.

I place no credence on JD Power.  Germans make the safest cars.  Hundai is shit

Cool story bro.

German cars break down all the f***ing time, and modern cars are designed to almost break apart like an F1 car or other racing cars to absorb a lot of the force. Let's stick to the topic eh?

I didn’t notice much in that interview really. If the comments hadn’t been there I don’t think I would have thought anything of it.

Ok.  Sorry.  I am just sad for his accident.  As one who deals with safety professionally and one who only owns certain cars, my bias is perhaps misplaced.  Hope he is ok

The talking heads speculating on whether Tiger can win #83 at this point are starting to piss me off.

I don't care if he never plays PGA Tour golf again (for me personally). I just want him to be happy, healthy, and recover. He doesn't owe me shit.

Disappointingly (but predictably) a lot of the news outlets managing to squeeze his DWI arrest from a few years back into their reporting, so it was pleasing to hear that angle already seems to be discounted in this crash.

One thing that does make me wonder, though...sunrise in Los Angeles this morning was 6.27am and police arrived on the scene of the accident at 7.12am. I'm about his age and have begun to notice the effects of bad low-light vision exacerbated by myopia and astigmatism, but unlike him I wear glasses rather than having had the laser surgery - and there seems to be a lot of discussion in the medical literature that the laser surgery makes low-light vision even worse.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
