I guess Bryson should have kept his mouth shut.

For those who don't know, here is what Bryson thought he could do. Basically use the 6th fairway rather than the 18th fairway.

I'm still trying to figure out exactly how he would've done it.  There seems to be a bunch of tents in the way over there, so would he just hit behind them and then get a free drop in the same tiny spot that has a view of the green from over there?

I feel like he was probably just throwing stuff out there and brainstorming out loud.  And now that he knows he can get crazy reactions from the tour, maybe he can use it to his advantage in future haha.

EDIT:  I get the premise and agree with Rich Beem though; they are much more comfortable hitting two shots straight over water then having two hit two shots all alongside water.  I'm with them on that one!

EDIT 2: Does this hole ever play downwind?  Because if so, based on the curve and his tee shots at 6 Bay Hill last week, I see no reason for him not to hit driver up alongside the green.

I have no issue with the internal OB.

Maybe. Looking at weather.gov, it looks like wind blows to the east majority of the time. The hole runs to the north west, mostly north. I think it would be uncommon.

On a side note, Hole #18 tee shot is way scarier than the tee shot on Hole #17.

Yeah there’s no bailout.  They don’t thread the needle and they’re wet or they’re punching out from under trees towards water.  Eek.

I have to admit, I really like this tournament.  Maybe it's because when I first "got into" golf (Xbox in college), I thought this was one of the fictional courses because of the 17th.  I really enjoy watching the final few holes of this event.

I feel like I missed it last year, although looking at my calendar, I can guess it didn't happen or finish, or maybe I'm forgetting and it did.

I remember it vividly; Corona basically hit Thursday.  First they decided to not allowed the fans in on Friday ... then quickly adjusted to canceling altogether.  Same day basically the two guys from the Jazz tested positive and sports pretty much all went on hiatus right then.

Better they do something now then like the planting the Hinkle Tree at the 79’ US Open.

What is interesting to me here is the last part; there was internal OB at Bay Hill 6 last week.  In looking at the overheads, I can only assume it's the same concept and left of the lake - i.e. the 3rd fairway - is OB?  Otherwise it is like a 280 yd shot to the beginning of the 3rd fairway and then a 180 yd shot to the green.  Bryson could've gone that route and hit 5wd-9I and have an eagle putt each day.

🙂

The NBA postponed their season Wednesday night. The PGA Tour had a Chainsmokers concert.

And then the first round with fans the next day.

It wasn't a good look, but at the same time, it's an outside sport.

15-20 mph wind for the next 4 days. Who do think play best with strong wind?

Ah, so that's how they're doing Every Shot Live.

Screen Shot 2021-03-11 at 12.23.55 PM.png

This is the 12:16 tee time I think and they're not off yet?

Screen Shot 2021-03-11 at 12.26.16 PM.png

Screen Shot 2021-03-11 at 12.27.20 PM.png

My mistake, this is the 12:27 starting time.

Tee shot has shot tracer.

This boring. I literally hear someone eating potato chips.

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
