Is Rahm taking a three-quarter backswing or is it just me?

How would I know how long of a backswing you're taking? ;-)

I was noticing it, but my priority piece at the moment for full swing shots is about shortening my backswing, so I've been exaggerating lately.  J.B. Holmes' full shots look (or, last I watched him intently, it's been a while) like he's chipping, even with a driver, so.

And with that, Xander is eliminated from contention 😞 I am very much looking forward to his second major victory.

And my second favorite of the ones who were in contention today misses his chance to tie the clubhouse lead barely at 18.  CM is out 😞

But Rahm at 5 under going to 18.

I had no idea Louis O has never won in the US.

I would have lost that bet if I had been asked ten minutes ago.

That is so true. He seems genuinely more concerned about someone getting hurt more so than being upset about a bad shot.

Imagine that, someone sinking a birdie putt on #72 at a U.S. Open at Torrey Pines and celebrating like that, knowing it could result in a win or a playoff.

And with that bogey, Rory is out.  L.O. has a short putt left on the 15th green;  including that, if he can finish out in 13 strokes (or fewer), he wins.  14 exactly, playoff.  If he takes 14 from here and hasn't holed out on 18 with that 14th, Rahm wins.

Nice putt, Rahm. Dang it. C’mon Louis.

At least I got the family running up to him... though the tyke didn't exactly leap into Rahm's arms... close enough.

Someone was busy pulling mommy's hair.

Okay, who among you cursed Bryson with my short game?

All I was thinking was, don’t drop the baby.

BDC snowman. Man. When it goes south…

It's like all the bogeys he didn't make in the previous 27 holes came back on his final nine today with a vengeance.

    • What length do you play your driver?  Most drivers come standard from the shop well over 45" (45.5, 45.75, etc).  Mine was fitted right at 45"
    • This is a good publicity stunt, though, unlike that Koepka rivalry crap. People have been comparing LD guys to PGA Tour guys forever, now we can actually see one in a competition.
    • I'm a truck driver and every now and then, I stop by a hospital or reference lab and repair a blood bank analyzer.  Well, at least that's how it feels. 😉  I'm actually a field service engineer for a blood bank analyzer company, but I spend as much time driving to accounts as in them.  My 3 1/2 year old pickup has 118k miles on it already. (We drive our own vehicles and get a stipend to make up for it.) I hope to be retired and a full-time golf bum in the not-to-distant future!
    • Saw this a couple of days ago, not sure if it should have its own thread or not, but thought this was a good a place as any to post. I thought for sure there would already be a post on it, but I didn’t see one.     Bryson wrecking hands in long-drive prep Bryson DeChambeau has received some battle scars while training for the Ryder Cup and... Any thoughts on how he’ll do? Embarrass himself or make a decent showing?    I’d assume he’d had the least problem putting them “in the grid,” uncertain how he’ll measure up to their distances. I’d guess he feels that he would make a good showing so as to not embarrass himself…unless it’s all just another publicity stunt for the $40M bonus prize for the whole social media thing
