You probably play the same course frequently, too. I do it a few minutes before.

Today at Mid-Pines it took about two minutes. But at Mid-South (after we played Talamore in the morning), it took literally 15 seconds.

If you change areas, it has to do more work. But that's why I said the first thing.

I also didn't load anything on my phone when I traveled. Not that you had to with GAME Golf, either. And with GG you only got blinking lights to let you know if you were on the course and GPS locked. This at least tells you on the screen.

I've gotten where I turn it on when I start warming up or even sometimes as I arrive at the course. The battery life is good enough that I don't worry about it running out of juice. Like I said not really a big deal, it just took some getting used to, because I normally just turned them on as I arrived at the tee box.

Game Golf wouldn’t get the GPS right away if I turned it on at the tee box, either. So I guess I’m just saying I’m used to it. I turn all my GPS devices on a few minutes before I get to the box.

This is what I do.   I have a Phantom and the H4.   When I get out of the car, I turn on both devices and I've never had an issue.    I've played 10 different course w/o incident.   Although today, because I was rushing out to play a round from Golfnow, I left the H4 at home!

Mine arrived today. The extra 15 percent off was a nice perk. The delivery time didn't seem to bad. Now I'm anxious to get out there and play.

When did you order it?

I ordered mine 7/1 and never got a email with tracking info

I also never got an email with tracking info.  I went to my mailbox today on a whim (I almost never go unless I'm out walking anyway, as it's mostly junk mail, and it's a block away) and it was there.

I'm playing tomorrow, so I won't be installing it until afterward.  Maybe I should take it as a GPS anyway.

I ordered Jun 30 and got an email July 4 saying it was accepted and processed for shipping.

The box is smaller than I thought it would be.

So I plug it in (to charge) and the screen immediately says to connect to app.

I am not super fond of the charger, but I hope there's a good reason for it.  It's certainly better than the piece of my GG that broke off after a year that I kept on via tape.

Maybe it’s because you don’t have any data?

It's likely so that the device can remain waterproof. That's probably also a big reason why they didn't add a little speaker for any audible clicks or beeps or something. (Because those things are pretty inexpensive.)

Almost surely.

Also got mine, was waiting in the mailbox when we got home from vacation yesterday.  Spent the night setting things up, hopefully will have a chance to test things out soon.

I joined the leaderboard as well, and also can't see anything on the mobile app, so I'm assuming it's because I haven't played yet.

I just finished screwing all the tags into each of my clubs and setting up the My Bag section...just to make sure I'm not missing something silly, there isn't any step to actually sync each tag to the device right?  When I actually get onto the course, the tags are already synced and ready to go?

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
