Taylormade 3 hybrid. Used it today with really good results. Who needs a 5 fairway wood?

Taylormade Burner 2.0 9.5 driver. My Nike VR Tour has been disagreeing with me for the last two months so I figured I just needed a change. The 2.0's are all on sale right now so I figured why not. Played 18 with it (only hit it probably 7 times) and hit a lot of range balls with it, definitely long but will take some getting used to to get my aim down with that longggg shaft, I'm kinda spraying them right now.

Titleist 14 way carry bag. Very nice and a lot lighter than my older Sun Mountain cart bag. I'll still use the SM for golf trips when I know we'll be riding every round

In my Sun Mountain 14 Way Stand Bag:

Driver - Ping G30 10.5* : Fairway - Ping G30 18* : Hybrids - Titleist 915H 21* & 915 H 24* : Irons - Mizuno JPX 850 Forged 5 - GW : Wedges, Vokey 54.14, Vokey 58.12 : Putter - Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 or Ping Craz-E-R  : Ball - Bridgestone B330RX, Cart - Cliqgear 3.5

Broke down and bought me a Scotty. I love the looke of them and if it makes me practice more, it was worth the money.

Picked up another double dozen laddie x golf balls at walmart last night while i was there to grab some fishing tackle.....tempted to try the wilson staff duo's after hearing some good stuff, but will probably just go with what i know until next season.

Did a driver fitting at Golf Galaxy.  I like my driver (Callaway Hyper X) and hit it well, but I wanted to see if I could get more distance simply from updated technology......I didn't.  Even though my driver is about 5 years old, I hit it as good or better than the Rocketballz Tour, 910D2, and the RAZR Fit.  My SS avg. was right around 100mph for all clubs, and my total distance avg. was from 280-285.  I'm not switching drivers for anything less than a 7 yard improvement in distance.

I'm sure that the shaft had a lot to do with my ball flight, but I couldn't put my shaft in the other driver heads.  That's what I really want to do to get an apples-to-apples comparison.

Any thoughts out there on whether I could gain distance simply from switching to a different club head while keeping the same shaft???  In other words, has clubhead technology improved so much that simply by switching the clubhead, while keeping all other variables constant, I could reasonably expect to gain 7+ yards in avg. driving distance?

If so, what driver do you recommend?

So a driver fitting is just for looking to switch drivers? I thought it was for lengthening/shortening or whatever like for the irons. I've been feeling like my driver is too long and been considering a fitting but if it's all about switching drivers, no thanks. I don't have the funds for that sorta thing. d:(

EDIT: Just so I stay on track, the last thing I bought was a Footjoy Weather Prof glove, I LOVE it. Cadet Medium-Large. So much better than the Bionic glove I used to have that tore after my first round.

Well, yes and no.  Driver fitting could be both, just like iron fitting could be done in search of new irons or to better fit your current irons to your swing.  I would suggest you go into the fitting from more of a shaft perspective.  The shaft has a HUGE impact on the ball flight (slice/hook/high/low).  In many instances, however, an upgraded shaft can cost as much as a new driver $200-300+.  Your driver is relatively new, and I seriously doubt a new driver(head) is going to provide any serious benefit.  A new shaft, on the other hand, could make a world of difference.  If you are using the stock shaft, chances are you would benefit from different shaft if you're not hitting your driver well consistantly (relatively speaking).  As I mentioned in my other post, my driver is about 4-5 years old, and none of the newer drivers I tested performed better.  I do, however, have an upgraded shaft that compliments my swing.  My ballflight was very inconsistant with the other drivers b/c they all had different shafts with different specs.

Finally got the Razr X Black from Callaway (my Diablo Edge cracked, so Cally did a direct warranty swap for the Razr X Black).  Can't say I really like it.  Its a bad azz looking club for sure, but even at the stock D5 swing weight, I can't feel the head at all.  That, coupled with the 46" length, I'm just not sure it's the one for me.

I played with a friend last weekend, and on several holes after we both hit our drives, I hit his Cobra AMP.  I fell in love with that club!  Straight as an arrow, and waaay past my drives with the Callaway.  So I ended up getting one for myself.  Just got the PURE Grip P2 Wrap in the mail today, so I'll put that on sometime this weekend, then wait for the snow to melt.  I'm really digging the feel of the Cobra though.  It's 2 swing weight points lighter, and lighter overall by 8g club weight, but I can feel the head in every step of my swing with this club.  Really looking forward to using this club.

I agree!  I replaced my 4 wood with a TM R11 2 hybrid.  At this point, it's my best club.

Mizuno MP-T11 60-08.

Spent an hour chipping in the back yard. Awesome wedge, easy to flop, pitch or chip.

Bought a pair of FJ WinterSof gloves last night.  They are really comfy, and I was able to hit some irons shots with them before I decided to buy them.  I thought it would be really odd to swing with two gloves on, but not at all.  As an added bonus, they make really nice driving gloves!

I was going to get a hitting net, but the reviews online scared me off, as this is for hitting in my garage over the winter so I can work on my (admittedly bad) swing. Last thing I need is a broken window, so I'll work with these. Response is OK, not weighted like a ball, but when I s*&^k one, it goes right, so I know I'm not swinging properly.

golfshoes!!

Thought I'd give them a try due to all the rave reviews on this site. Super comfortable, unlike any shoe I've ever worn. Almost a slipper type feel. The minute I stepped on the green and walked to my ball I was sold. I felt every nuance of the greens contour, slope became very evident and I didn't misread a break all day. Sure, I under played or overplayed a few but I always got the direction right even when my eyes were screaming "it breaks the other way!!", My feet knew the truth, because of my TRUES!

EDIT ** I also did not experience ANY traction issues at all, which was a main concern going into the purchase.
