Added two birdies in the last three weeks.

Got #14 on 8/20. God awful round except a chip in for birdie after missing the green pin-high, right.

Got #18 today. Chunked 4W off the tee and had around 180 to middle of green. Flushed a 6-iron and had a 8-foot putt for birdie, which snuck in the hole on the left edge.

Still need #10 and #12.

Go Foxy Go

Couple of new ones yesterday.

The tricky 327 yard par 4 2nd. Goes down from the tee into a valley then steeply back up to a 2 tier green. Pin was on the front left which means an underhit approach comes back down the hill 30 yards and an overhit approach leaves a nasty downhill putt from top to bottom tier with the added risk that the ball runs down into the valley. Ask me how I know! 3 hybrid to the flat section at the bottom of the valley, 9 iron pin high 6 feet left of the pin and rolled the putt in.

The par 3 9th, playing for the first time off the new tee box. 156 yards downhill with a gentle tailwind. Baby draw with an 8 iron landed pin high about 12 feet left, spun left another 4 feet towards the pin leaving me about 8 feet for birdie. The course tends to back up a bit on this hole, so it's always nice to hit a good shot with an audience.

Got #12 yesterday. It's a funky hole, only about 300 yards, but there are a lot of overgrown trees obstructing lines of play, and two creeks dividing the hole into three sections; tee area | fairway | | green. To carry the last creek before the apron/green is maybe 220-240 yards, but it demands accuracy (I have successfully driven the green once, but the other 10+ times were a lost ball). My standard play is mid iron to the fairway and then a wedge to the green. I toed my tee shot, but all that matters is being on the left side of the fairway which I accomplished, and then hit a decent PW to hole high, and made a slicing putt about 15 feet.

Now I just need #10 (hard tee shot), and #16 (long par-3).

While @billchao was in town last week I got my next-to-last hole birdied, #10 at Stoneleigh, with a 50-foot putt that had 15 feet or more of break.  The only remaining hole is #12, 395-yard par 4, about 80 feet of uphill.  I didn't get it last year, and time is running out this year.

#12 wouldn’t be so hard if it wasn’t for the elevation. And the false front. And the wall. And the penalty area on the left with the terrain sloping left. And the tight tee shot that calls for a draw to a hole that doglegs right with tall trees blocking the corner, often resulting in having to hit a high cut on your second shot.

Other than that it’s a pretty simple hole.

Eagled a hole I'd previously birdied before (#5 at WW). Pitched in from about 70 yards off a severe downhill/sidehill slope. Rolled in like a good putt.

Still don't have 8, 10, 13, or 18.

Birdied 7 on my away course at Jamestown. 135 yard par 3. 8 iron to 10 feet but a few inches off the green. Straight putt so pretty easy.

First round in over a month and a half.  Started from the middle of the course and finally ended on the 15th.  Mid length par 5.  Over 500 but not sure exactly how much.  Off the tee bunkers left and right of the narrow fairway.  Wound up in the left side bunker.  Was able to hit a 4 hybrid out of it and inside 100 yards to the green.  It also has a water body short and right of the green so you need to pick your line and ensure you can get your ball to stop on the green if you go over the water.  I went left and actually into the rough though it isn't very thick or deep.  Had a decent lie and was able to hit half a PW and dropped the ball inside 5 feet.  Maybe half a ball right or right edge.  Putted it well and got the birdie

I have had a slew of birdies lately but 18 still eludes me.

Yesterday it was playing 425 into the wind and hit driver 6 iron to 15 feet above the hole. This is a severe downslope and greens are tens so I literally hit a 2 foot putt that just missed! Easy par, but man I need me a birdie to wrap this up!

I was able to add hole 2 (Nearly a hole-in-one, see shot of the week) and hole number 15 yesterday.

Hole 2 is a par-3, played at 161 yards yesterday, made a tap in birdie.
Hole 15 is a par-5 in which I was just off the green in 2. Chipped it 8 feet past the hole and then made the 8 footer for birdie.

Birdie watch for 18....

Last night I hit a pully heater that just missed the tree on the left but ended up cutting off the corner of the dogleg and had 135 into the wind. Hit 9 iron to 12 feet with an uphill Right to Left putt. Lipped out!!! Ugggg. The struggle is real!

Just had an amazing round yesterday.  Two birdies capped it.  10 and 11.  10 is a short par 4.  Under 350 yards.  Great drive and under 100 yards to the green.  PW and the ball was between 10 to 15 feet.  Great putt and it went in.  Then came 11.  500 or so yard par 5.  Decent drive though pulled it a bit left into a light rough.  Then hit a 4 hybrid and about 50 yards to the pin.  Decent half pitching wedge dropped me to about 5 feet.  Touch left to right so probably left edge or so and i putted well.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
