Back to the same  ol easy  peasy this week. If a sand trap isnt a  penalty why are they even on a  course?

Just an FYI.  Sand Traps are not "Penalty Areas", that is why there is no penalty stroke for going in one.

For the pros they tend to be very solid in playing out of the sand and that is why they often they can still get up & down out of a greenside bunker but there are times the bunkers make that up & down really hard.  I've seen players forced to play away from the hole.  That is a "Cost" to being in a bunker, just not a "Penalty".

Not that I want to or need to "defend" him and his takes, but he said "penalty" not "penalty area."

J.T. and Bones have called it quits after spending parts of four years working together

Kind of drastic week before the Masters.

Jus wonderin

In a stroke play tournament that goes into a playoff, and it's sudden death, and it becomes obvious that the hole has been lost, and therefore the tournament has been lost - just like what happened in today's tournament - can the losing player concede before the hole has been completed?

Yeah, they can. They can basically "DQ" themselves from the playoff.

But stranger things have happened. What if Akshay's caddie put another club in the bag or something? It's not like Denny was making a 12. He made double.

Even if its allowed under the Rules of Golf (it is), its possible there's some type of "punishment" in the PGA Tour rules.  That wouldn't be strokes or DQ, but there could be fines, or a note on the player's "permanent record".  But really, why would a player do that, short of some kind of severe injury?

I think in a situation where you know you've lost the playoff, the thing to do is start working the excuse angle. Something like, "my glutes weren't firing", or flu like symptoms came on. Plus I think it would be embarrassing to quit even if you had no chance. I think it would hurt your career or at least your reputation more than losing the playoff.  Denny McCarthy put on a hell of a fight on the back nine.

One thing  the PGA can do if they want more ratings  is  have the  playoffs  be  match play.

Same dumb schtick since joining.

They basically are. They're sudden victory. This comment makes no sense.

Oh, you said "the" playoffs… whatever, man. I thought you meant "playoffs" because we just had one at the Valero.

It's the PGA Tour, also, not the PGA.

They're all make what a human can live on to lead a very opulent life style.

What are you saying? Seems like you packed a few different comparisons there. PGA vs. LPGA (Inequality), PGA vs. LIV (Retarded money that's hard to ignore?). Maybe something else.

I will say this upfront: Shits gotta mean something and make you happy at a core level. Money notwithstanding. I really am not virtue signalling at all.

Saying nothing, just showing the money spread.

Why? Maybe a situation like this? I would've turned to Tigs, stuck my hand out and said "Congrats" and then walked off.

I might be remembering wrong, having a Mandela Effect, but I believe Curtis Strange was referred to as ‘The Postman’ well before Poulter.

    • Day 126: 5/1/24 Putting and chipping practice. Slow motion swings with 8-iron.
    • #4 - 1st hole at Kingsbarns I rolled in a 15 footer for birdie. Showed my caddie an old guy could still play a bit. #3 - 18th hole at Basin Harbor Club, Vergennes, VT. I had played matches against my nephew over the years. He had never beaten me although through the years he had become a long hitting teenage golfer. I was 1 up but bunkered near the 18th green. My nephew had a long putt for birdie. I splashed out of the bunker to 4 feet. He rolled his first putt close and I gave him the par. Sadly for him, I rolled mine in and won our last match. He went off to college and then Europe for a Ph. D. It was our last match. Family champion forever. #2 - First playoff hole in the City of Livonia, MI “65 & Over” division. I rolled in an 8 footer that broke about 4-5 inches. #10 Whispering Willows GC. #1  18th hole at TPC Prestancia, Sarasota, FL. A 4 foot slicing putt for par to beat the prior year’s Member/Guest winners and win the Member/Guest with my father at his club. I was having heart palpitations as I played the final hole solo when my father put two in the water. There was never a better golf sight for me when that ball dove into the hole.
    • Finally, wedges getting somewhere. This one a punch gap from 87 yards to about 12 feet. Contact and ball flight absolute restaurant quality. It's nice when grass comes back.
    • Tiger on the Today show today. At 3:25 he says he's working on keeping his arms in more and rotating his hips better. Nice.
    • Day 11- Slow,  short swings with short practice club.
