As a break from discussions over proposed restrictions for golf balls, the menu for the Masters Champions dinner just popped onto my feed:

My wife asked if we're invited!  Anyone else interested?

Agree, pretty much a meat and potatoes kind of meal.  Right up my alley, if I'm honest.

My alley too, except for the sliders. Can't understand having cheeseburgers before a steak. How about some good raw oysters?

Thumbs up on the tortilla soup.

Speaking of the cheeseburger sliders….on the cruise the missus and I went on earlier this year, the night we had reservations at the steakhouse, the chef sent over some micro-sliders (about a silver dollar size) that were to die for.  Followed shortly by lobster tails and filet…..all that to say I can see where gourmet sliders would be a tasty lead in.  Overall the Masters menu  looks to be a winner!

Its simply copying the Bang Bang shrimp from Bonefish Grill.  Spend enough time on the road and you'll eventually visit every single big-box restaurant at least once, and find a few favorite dishes at one or two.

I get it.
I am on the road at least once if not twice a month for my kid's sporting events.
We have been to all the corporate chains but try to find local gems as much as possible.
That being said, never been to Bonefish.
Guess I will have to seek out their shrimp and Mayo!

Yeah, I try to avoid the big boxes when I can.  That said, the Bang Bang shrimp is pretty decent, properly done fried shrimp with a spicy sauce.

I want to know, WTF is scottie-style sliders? I always thought sliders were overrated 😛 Fried shrimp is pretty solid, I do like the spicy shrimp. Though, I would prefer it to just be spicy, not need for the sweet thai chili. It is more of a sugar bomb for me usually. That tortilla soup sounds really good. The rest is just top tier for me.

“After all I’ve contributed to the tournament and been an ambassador for them, I can’t go and have a practice round there with my three grandchildren without having to beg a member to play with us, and there’s always some excuse,” Player told the Times. “It’s terribly, terribly sad. I’ve played my role: I’ve won it three times, I was in the top-10 15 times, I made the most number of cuts in a row ever. Yet here we are struggling to get a round. If it wasn’t for the players, [Augusta] would just be another golf course in Georgia.

and

This is not the first time Player or his family have found themselves in Masters headlines. For the past two years Player has worn “Golf Saudi” logos during the Honorary Starters ceremony. Golf Saudi is affiliated with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, and LIV Golf—which is backed by the PIF—is currently involved in a lawsuit that has taken aim at Augusta National and chairman Fred Ridley. Golf Saudi has also been accused as extension of sportwashing by the Saudi regime, attempting to use the sport to improve its image to the western world amid human-rights issues.

Then there was an incident at the 2021 Masters, when Player’s son Wayne was accused of guerilla marketing during a ceremony honoring Lee Elder. Wayne told Golf Digest last year that the incident led to a ban from Augusta National.

It’s a feast of sniping and griping, but the Player spectacle is veering toward undignified.

While his contemporaries Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus were welcomed as fully-fledged members at Augusta National, Player remains an honorary member, a status conferred on all past Masters champions. If the club was hesitant to extend full privileges to a three-time winner, events have justified the caution.

Player is a douche. The Masters and ANGC would’ve done fine without him ever setting foot on the grounds. He’s just an insufferable blow hard.

    • Wow! Do you know me? All of the above changed (new group, started weightlifting, family drama, started my own business) I got to 12 about 10 months ago and stopped lessons 4 months ago I just realized it has only been about the score (and taking notes of every shot) Yeah, a task. I dragged myself to the course to complete the 'task' I think I need a break followed by a round without scorecard, play alone and meet new people, and just enjoy the game. I have been on a relentless pursuit of an unrealistic score and handicap that I completely forgot the friends and fun part of the journey. Thanks for your comment.
    • Day 210: did mirror work while watching a movie. Working on earlier wrist hinge in the backswing. Seems like I need to feel it almost on the takeaway for it to work.
    • Day 24 (14 Feb 25) - Played with the l Friday men’s group (only 7 of us today - temps in the low 40’s to start and N-NW winds gusting to 10-15 mph).  It was course management front and center type of day.  Had ample opportunities to work from some tough lies, etc.  Overall an okay round -  the bigger struggle was with the putter (several three putts and one four - ugggly offset by one terrific 60’ putt for birdie).  Spent some time after the round chipping on the practice green.
    • Day 8; 2/14/2025 Had a lesson with Yoda today. ... He suggested I take up tennis. 😂
    • Day 7: 2/14/25 Putting through 50 mm gates from 11”. Made the first 42 before hitting 2 gates in a row, then made 9 consecutive putts.    Followed with a Par 4 success speed training workout and hit 113 mph several times.
